Enjoy Morocco's heady mix of languages, cultures, religions, ancient traditions and modern sensibilities in one of the world's best travel bargains. Experience ancient cities that exude a mysterious ambiance leaving you with a strong impression and will have you wanting to return again and again.
This 12-day trip through Morocco celebrates the contrast between its frenetic cities and its serene natural landscapes to give you the best all-over view of this unique country.
Force Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman from your mind, and get to know the real Casablanca. Wander Hassan II mosque, Ain Diab Corniche, and the Habous Quarter before going on to the Kasbah of Udayas, and Mohammed V Mausoleum. Overnight in Fez, another of Morocco’s famous Imperial Cities. The centre of spiritual and intellectual Morocco, Fez has many sights to explore including Jemaa El Karauyine university, and the Medersa Bouanania. You’ll also get a more down to earth taste of the city as you visit local tanneries and artisans.
Transfer to Marrakech, stopping in the distinctive town of Ifrane, which can feel like a slice of Switzerland in Morocco with its forests and European-style architecture. Your eventual destination, Marrakech, is one of the world’s most exotic cities to visit. Once a poor caravan town, Marrakech is now one of Morocco’s liveliest and most attractive cities, where markets, mosques, and traditional souks all combine to create a peerless cultural experience and atmosphere. Visit Jemaa el Fna Square, the Koutoubia Minaret, Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs. Then roam the souks of the medina for the perfect souvenir.
Transfer to Ouarzazate, travelling through the High Atlas Mountains. Your route takes you through delightful villages before overnighting in Dades. Here, you’re surrounded by some of Morocco’s most impressive landscapes, from the Dades Gorges to large palm groves that conjure images of a desert oasis. Take a walk through Todra Gorge to see the High Atlas Mountains at their most dynamic, before taking in the dunes of Merzouga, and visiting the local villages including Alnif, Tazarine, and Tamagreoute. Overnight in Zagora, where you’ll take a tour in the morning, followed by more time in the villages.
Your last full scheduled day starts back in Ouarzazate, with visits to some of Morocco’s most beautiful Kasbahs. This is also the ‘Hollywood’ of Morocco, and you’ll visit the film studios that have produced hits such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Alexander. Return to Marrakech for your last night, then board your flight home, or linger in the Kasbahs for just a few more days.
