DELUXE | RAIL: Journey across the picturesque landscapes of South Africa with Rovos Rail, enjoying luxury train travel and old-world atmosphere during your journey. As you head from Pretoria to Cape Town, you’ll stop off at premium golf courses to tee off in the gorgeous South African countryside.
This 10-day African rail journey takes you to golf courses across South Africa, from the capital Pretoria to picturesque Cape Town.
Your South African rail journey begins in Pretoria, South Africa's capital. Here, you'll board one of Rovos Rail's luxury trains, which transport globetrotters back to the golden age of train travel. Rovos Rail's trains have classically-designed sleeping cars, attentive staff, and gourmet restaurants that offer all the comforts of a 5-star hotel along with the romance of the golden age of steam locomotives. As each train only holds up to 72 passengers, you'll know that you'll get the intimate and attentive service that befits a luxury journey across South Africa.
As you travel east to west across South Africa, you’ll stop at premium golf courses which let you tee off amidst a gorgeous landscape of African bushland and mountains. Your first stop is Kruger National Park, where you’ll head on a game drive to see the Big Five and other incredible African wildlife. Continue on to Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park for another game drive before reaching Durban, where you’ll tee off for your first round of golf at the Durban Country Club or Durban Beachwood. Cross the Drakensberg Mountains and reach Spionkop for 18 holes at Champagne Sports Resort. Continue southwestward, spending a day travelling towards the coast. The next day, enjoy 18 holes at Humewood near Addo Elephant Park. As you make your way west towards Cape Town, you’ll tee off for your final games at Ernie Els Oubaai and Fancourt. When you reach Cape Town, you’ll disembark, content with the knowledge that you’ve played a beloved game in some of the best golf courses on the continent.
This South African rail journey makes for a great addition to a longer trip to Africa or a city stopover in Cape Town.
