Arrive Punta Arenas

Arrival at the city of Punta Arenas where you will be met by your local representative, to be later transferred to the selected hotel. During the afternoon, before dinner, you will receive instructions in relation with the norms that should be followed in Antarctica and about the procedures of embarkation and disembarkation. Punta Arenas to Expedition Vessel

Your Antarctic adventure begins with a flight from Punta Arenas to King George Island (South Shetland Islands). The flight takes a little under 2 hours. Upon arrival you will be able to tour around the area where the 'Presidente Eduardo Frei M.' Chilean Base and 'Bellinghausen' Russian Base are located. You will gather at the beach on Fildes Bay for embarkation, by Zodiac boats, to M/V 'Ocean Nova'.

Day 3

Antarctica Peninsula

As you cruise between the South Shetland Islands and the Peninsula, sailing along ice filled fjords and between spectacular icebergs, you will enjoy the company of sea birds, penguins, seals and whales. Your Journey toward the south may include visits to some of the most magnificent spots in the white continent such as: Hannah Point, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Cuverville and Deception Islands amongst others. Your adventure will be full, with daily landings and cruises in zodiacs boats, selected lectures and an enjoyable time on board.

Day 4

Antarctica Peninsula

Visit the South Shetland Islands and the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, disembarking by Zodiac each day. In small groups, hike to extraordinary sites and take part in exploratory Zodiac excursions to otherwise inaccessible areas. Expert polar guides share their passion for Antarctica through an engaging program of illustrated presentations, and lead you ashore to interpret the wildlife, the history and the many wonders of the Antarctic environment. From the glass-enclosed lounge, enjoy spectacular views while sharing your daily adventures with fellow guests over a drink.

Antarctica Peninsula

The goal of the expedition is to sail far south in the attempt of reaching the Polar Circle. The Expedition Team sets the specific voyage route based on local conditions, and takes advantage of the ever-changing opportunities provided by Nature. Flexibility will be the key to a successful voyage. Your expedition may include visits to sites such as Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, the Lemaire Channel, Prospect Point or other magnificent places.

Exploration in and around the Antarctica peninsula before heading back to King George Island.

South Shetlands to Punta Arenas

Your cruise ship will return to King George Island where you will disembark in Zodiac boats, at Fildes Bay by 'Presidente Eduardo Frei M.' Chilean Base, and head to the 'Teniente Marsh' aerodrome to take the flight back to Punta Arenas. The trip officially ends on your arrival into Punta Arenas. Overnight in Punta Arenas.

Contingency Plan For Antarctica Express Air-Cruises

In case of a delay on the return flight to Punta Arenas from Antarctica, passengers on board the ship will continue cruising to nearby places until the return flight to Punta Arenas is authorized. Full board and all excursions are included. No refund will be extended for any reason whatsoever.

From Day 2 to Day 6 every effort will be made to transport passengers to Antarctica taking into consideration their safety and the safety of the aircraft. In case such efforts are not successful, the daily program described hereby will apply:


Day 2 - Guided tours to sites of historic and wildlife interest in Punta Arenas. Meals are included as well as accommodation at the same hotel included on Day 1 of the Travel Program.


Day 3 - Guided tours to sites of historic and wildlife interest in Punta Arenas. Meals are included as well as accommodation at the same hotel included on Day 1 of the Travel Program.

Day 4 - Accommodation with breakfast in a 3-star hotel in Punta Arenas is included. No other services or meals are included. Passengers are required to stand-by for announcements concerning the flight to Antarctica.
Note: If by the end of Day 4 (24:00 hours local time) ANTARCTICA XXI will not be able to transport passengers to Antarctica, ANTARCTICA XXI will refund to each passenger 5% of the total rate (excluding discounts, if any) paid for the voyage.

Day 5 - Accommodation with breakfast in a 3-star hotel in Punta Arenas is included. No other services or meals are included. Passengers are required to stand-by for announcements concerning the flight to Antarctica.

Note: If by the end of Day 6 (24:00 hours local time) ANTARCTICA XXI will not be able to transport
passengers to Antarctica, ANTARCTICA XXI will refund to each passenger 100% of the total rate (excluding discounts, if any) paid for the voyage, less a fee of USD 2,000 per person.

Day 7 - Accommodation with breakfast in a 3-star hotel in Punta Arenas is included. No other services or meals are included. There will be no further flight attempt.

Day 8 - Breakfast. Transfer to Punta Arenas airport. End of the Contingency Plan.

OPTIONAL ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES
SEA KAYAKING IN ANTARCTICA

Experience Antarctica from the unique vantage point of a sea kayak. The majestic landscape, the icebergs, the wildlife - everything looks different as you paddle quietly through the waves. A unique experience!


THE PROGRAM
The sea kayaking program offered is a group experience limited to a maximum of 10 participants on Ocean Nova, and 16 participants on Sea Explorer, under the guidance and leadership of an experienced Kayak Master.


Every day you are in Antarctica, your Kayak Master will work with the Expedition Team to look for the best kayaking opportunities within the trip’s schedule, based on suitable and safe weather conditions. The group will be supported by a dedicated safety Zodiac. Each kayaking excursion will be approximately one and a half hours in duration. At the end of the excursion the Kayak Master will strive to offer the group some time at the landing site so you can explore.

To take part in the kayaking program you must have previous kayaking experience. 

The minimum age for participation is 16 years.
