Antarctic Explorer: Discovering the 7th Continent Depart Ushuaia

Duration
11 Days
Prices From:
US$ 14,625

DELUXE | CRUISE: A wonderful way to enjoy an expedition to Antarctica, you'll sail from Ushuaia in Argentina and head south on an incredible vessel, spending time ashore on the fascinating, basically uninhabited, continent often referred to simply as 'The Ice'.

Arrive in the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia, Argentina, capital of Tierra del Fuego and spend overnight here. The next day, embark on your ship and begin your cruise to Antarctica by sailing along the historic Beagle Channel and the next day, the unpredictable Drake Passage. During these two days, you will receive briefings on what to expect over the next few days.

The following 5 days introduce you to both the South Shetland Islands and the continent of Antarctica. The South Shetland Islands are located 75 kilometres/120 miles north of this famous land mass and are renowned for the large number of research stations located there. During these days, you will sail in sight of both destinations and eventually land on Antarctica using zodiacs in order to explore bays, channels and landing sites. You will come up close to penguin rookeries, see Humpback and Minke whales as well as seals. You will have the opportunity to climb up snowy pathways, take mountain hikes or simply spend time on pebbled beaches observing the local animal life.

Later, it’s time to return to Ushuaia spending 2 nights on board ship while watching out for seabirds and spotting whales along the way.
