Experience the diversity of Thailand on this journey to the city, beach, and jungle. Connecting to Bangkok, Phuket, and Elephant Hills, you’ll be captivated by city bustle, relax and enjoy wellness treatments on world-famous beaches, and get in touch with elephants and jungle life in the rainforest.

This 11-day Thailand vacation showcases the many sides of the Land of Smiles, including Bangkok, the island paradise of Phuket, and the jungle wilds of Elephant Hills.

Your journey across Thailand begins in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand and the most-visited city on the planet. It won’t take you long to notice Bangkok’s stunning contrasts. Massive skyscrapers sit beside wooden huts; luxury malls jostle for baht alongside bustling farmers’ markets—no one side of Bangkok is quintessential. It takes both the big and small, rich and modest to capture what makes Bangkok so invigorating. On your first day in the city, cruise along the Chao Phraya River to see humble dwellings and temples lining the water. Back on land, visit famous landmarks like Wat Arun, Wat Phra Kaew, and the Grand Palace, the former home of the King of Thailand. The next evening, zip around the streets on a tuk tuk, seeing the landmarks lit up and stopping off at the night markets to peruse stalls selling foods and flowers. You’ll have the chance to buy some for yourself if you wish.

From Bangkok, fly south to fabulous Phuket, the famous island paradise on the Andaman Sea. In Phuket, you’ll stay at Novotel Phuket Kata Avista Resort & Spa, a high-end luxury resort perfect for both families and independent travellers. Mere steps away from both Kata Beach and Karon Beach, Novotel Phuket Kata Avista Resort & Spa offers gorgeous rooms with king-sized bed or two double-bed options and great views of the tropical surroundings. While at the resort, you can enjoy gourmet food at En Vogue Restaurant or cocktails at the stylish C2C Bar. You can also rejuvenate with massages and other wellness treatments at the In Balance Spa.

You’ll have several days at leisure in Phuket to enjoy the famous tropical atmosphere. When you’re not recharging with a Thai massage or grabbing a drink at the Swim Up Pool Bar, you’ll have the freedom to take advantage of Phuket’s many attractions. Tour James Bond Island or head to nearby temples to get in touch with local Thai culture. Sign up for a cooking class or learn Thailand’s traditional martial art, Muay Thai. Enjoy the world-famous white-sand beaches, explore the lush mountains, and swim through the magnificent coves of Phuket.

From Phuket, head to Elephants Hills for the final leg of your Thailand vacation. This luxury jungle camp blends into its natural environment and offers the chance to get up close and personal with Thai elephants. Learn about their habits and engage with their conservation. You’ll also have the chance to take a river canoe down the Sok River, watch a traditional Thai dance, and enjoy the amenities of your luxury camp. The next day, head onto Cheow Lan Lake to venture across an aquatic landscape of hundreds of limestone karsts, reminiscent of Halong Bay. Then head further into the jungle to Elephant Hills Rainforest Camp to spend the final night of your vacation in a gorgeous environment in the heart of the jungle, spotting gibbons and butterflies sharing the forest with you. The next day, connect back to the city to continue your onward journey.

Today, you will travel on the picturesque Chao Phraya River, also known as the "River of the Kings", and through the klongs (canals) of Thonburi on the west side of the river from Bangkok. There will be a chance to observe and photograph the serene family homes and temples along the waterways ,which gave the city the nickname of "Venice of the East." You will also visit a major riverside landmark, the Temple of Dawn, or Wat Arun, which has a pagoda that soars 79 m into the sky. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew inhabit a common compound and the Palace is presently used only for occasional ceremonial purposes. It is no longer the royal residence, as the current King Bhumibol (Rama IX) lives in Chitralada Palace, located nearby in Bangkok's Dusit District, though the interior of most of the buildings remain closed to the public.

Day 10

Elephant Hills - Cheow Lan Lake - Rainforest Camp

Wake up to the sounds of nature and birds calling from the bushes next to the tent. Tea and coffee-making facilities are available in your tent for early risers; breakfast is at your leisure. Later this morning, explore Cheow Lan Lake by local long-tail boat. Surrounded by Limestone Mountains, the lake has more than a hundred small islands, and the scenery has been compared to Guilin in China and Halong Bay in Vietnam. In the 1970s, the area was a hide-out for communists and students opposing the military dictatorship. Continue to the floating Elephant Hills Rainforest Camp, situated in the heart of the national park, and check in to your luxury tent. After enjoying a delicious Thai lunch overlooking the lake, set out to explore the jungle on foot. This is an opportunity to explore the ecology of one of the world's oldest rainforests, including hardwood trees with huge roots, orchids, palms, ferns, bamboo and mosses. Gibbons can often be heard calling to their mates, you might spot macaque or leaf monkeys swinging through the branches, and beautiful butterflies abound. You will have the chance to walk slowly and really listen, to discover the secrets of the rainforest. Return to the rainforest camp, where you are free to take a refreshing dip in the water and perhaps watch the sun set behind the towering limestone mountains from the deckchair in front of your tent. The evening is at leisure for you to really absorb the peace of this magnificent natural setting.
