This locally hosted tour visits the highlights of Southern Malaysia and is the perfect way to experience the cultural, historical and natural aspects of this varied and interesting country.


Malaysia includes modern cities, first rate beach resorts, lush jungles, verdant rainforests and numerous National Parks. The influences of the ethnic mix also add to Malaysia’s attraction with its Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures.

Start your tour from Kuala Lumpur heading north to the CameronHighlands stopping en route to see the cottage industry of basket weaving followed by the Lata Iskandar Waterfalls. On arrival in the CameronHighlands, check into your hotel. The CameronHighlands is the largest hill station in Malaysia originally founded by the British. A series of rolling hills, it is made up of forests, tea plantations, strawberry farms and natural scenery such as waterfalls.  Because of its climate, it attracts over 700 different species of birds and has a wide variety of colourful flowers. Start off with visits today to a tea plantation and factory and a butterfly farm. Overnight in the CameronHighlands.

Depart with a day of sightseeing en route to Penang.  Visit the SamPohTongCaveTemple built into a hillside, the royal town of Kuala Kangsar with its massive marble structure, the IskandarianPalace, home of the Sultan of Perak and the town of Kuala Sepetang where you will visit the scenic mangrove swamps. Eventually cross over the causeway into Penang for overnight.

Two major attractions in Penang are Georgetown, the main city where its old historical centre is a UNESCO world heritage site with its British colonial architecture and the several beaches, mainly in the north of the island. The next day, begin your exploration of Penang. Start with Georgetown visiting the Reclining Buddha, gold plated and 33 metres/107 feet in length, the Kek Lok Si Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in South-East Asia, Fort Cornwallis, the largest standing fort in Malaysia and Khoo Kong Si, the largest Chinese Clan House. You will also have a ride in a Trishaw through the streets of Georgetown.

From Penang, head east across the Malaysian peninsula through mountain ranges with amazing views of dense tropical forest.  Stop en route at BandingIsland on the man-made TemenggorLake. Further on, stop at the highest mountain point overlooking the border with Thailand. Arrive in the state of Kelentan and arrive at the border town of Rantau Panjang. One can see from here the Thai villages across the river. Continue for overnight in Kota Bahru.

The following morning brings visits to the markets and the local cottage industries such as silver handicrafts and weaving. Drive then along the coastline to Kuala Terengganu for overnight.

 The next day, visit Pulau Duyong famous for its traditional way of boat making. See the Islamic Civilization Park showcasing twenty replicas of great Islamic monuments of the world such as the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. Visit the Grand Crystal Mosque in the park. Head next to the coastal fishing village of Cherating. En route, stop for tea hosted by the local community. Continue to the city of Kuantan for overnight.

The following morning, return overland to Kuala Lumpur where your tour finishes.

Day 1

Kuala Lumpur to Cameron Highlands

This morning, depart Kuala Lumpur for the Cameron Highlands, located 1542 meters above sea level and noted for its tea plantations and cool temperatures. Stop on the way to visit a local basket weaving industry, the Lata Iskandar waterfalls and a native settlement. Arrive in the cool, crisp air of Cameron Highlands. This afternoon, visit the tea plantation, tea factory, marketplace and butterfly farm.

Day 2

Cameron Highlands to Penang

Early morning set off to Penang. Stop at the Royal town of Kuala Kangsar to appreciate the mesmerizing Ubudiah Mosque, the attractive Iskandariah Palace and Istana Kenangan which was built without a single nail. The visits of these 3 interesting sites are from the outside.

Discover interesting handicrafts of the Royal Town of Kuala Kangsar by embarking on a river cruise amidst a rustic ambiance that is rich in history with live narration. Disembark to visit the unique process of keris (dagger) making, a dying art. Synonymous with the Malay culture and way of life, the keris is a status symbol for Malay Royalties and Dignitaries. Then proceed to visit the The Sultan Azlan Shah Gallery, a gallery with beautiful and interesting architecture was developed according to the standards of other international galleries. The gallery was born from the ideas of His Majesty the Sultan Azlan Shah Muhibbuddin with a reflection to opening the doors to the public into his life journey. Lastly visit the Labu Sayong Center where unique shaped pots are made with deft hands and creative inspirations mostly by womenfolk. The cool water from the pots is believed to have healing properties.

Cross over to Penang, better known as the "Pearl of the Orient" via one of the longest bridge in the world.

Day 3

Georgetown and Penang

Enjoy a tour of historic Georgetown this morning, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Visit the Temple of 1000 Buddhas (Kek Lok Si Temple), one of the largest and most beautiful Buddhist temple complexes in Southeast Asia. Continue to Fort Cornwallis, the landing site of Captain Francis Light when he arrived in 1786 to establish a British colony. Next, visit the water village at Weld Quay, nicknamed The Clan Jetties since each resident shares a similar surname. Continue along Pitt Street, where churches, Chinese temples, mosques and Hindu temples have harmoniously existed side by side for centuries. Visit the intricately-designed house of the Khoo Kong Si clan, then enjoy a breezy trishaw ride, a still popular mode of transport in Georgetown. Return to the hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure. In the late evening, you may want to explore Penang's nightlife along Batu Ferringhi.

Penang to Kota Bharu

Today you will travel across peninsular Malaysia through the main mountain range, which offers breath-taking views of the dense tropical rainforest as well as small villages and plantations. En route, take a break on Banding Island and enjoy the views of famous Temenggor Lake. Further on, stop at the highest mountain point on this route, which overlooks the Thailand and Malaysian border and offers a breathtaking view of the Titiwangsa mountain range. Continue to Kota Bharu and check into your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Kota Bharu to Terengganu

Start the day with a visit to the colourful wet market of Kota Bharu as well as the traditional cottage industries of silver handicrafts and "songket" weaving. Drive south along the scenic coastline towards Kuala Terengganu, tasting some "keropok" (the popular fish or prawn chips) on the way. Check in to your hotel and the remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 6

Terengganu to Kuantan

After an early breakfast, check out of the hotel and head out for some sightseeing in Terengganu. Visit Pulau Duyong, famous for its traditional boat making, then stop at the Islamic Civilization Park, featuring the Grand Crystal Mosque as well as twenty replicas of great Islamic monuments of the world (including Granada's Alhambra and Agra's Taj Mahal). Start your journey south towards Kuantan, stopping at a brassware-making centre, sampling "lemang" (rice cooked with coconut milk in bamboo), and visiting a scenic coastal fishing village known for its endangered sea turtles. Enjoy an afternoon tea break before making a final stop at a batik gallery. Arrive Kuantan and the evening is at leisure.

Day 7

Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur

This morning, depart for Kuala Lumpur at 8:30am. On the way, stop at the quaint historic town of Sungai Lembing, as well as the excellent Sungai Lembing Museum, dedicated to the memories tin miners who perished or became ill in the largest, longest and deepest subterranean tin mine in the world. While at the museum, visit the underground tunnel which was once known as the El Dorado of the East. You will arrive Kuala Lumpur in the mid-afternoon.
