This two-day tour allows you to spend a night at Great Ocean Ecolodge while exploring the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne. This beautiful two-day adventure includes close encounters with koalas and kangaroos as well as tours of the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge.


This 2-day Australian vacation takes you along the Great Ocean Road on an overnight tour. It features moderate accommodations, small group touring, and is a great add-on to a trip to Melbourne.

Your journey takes you along one of the world’s greatest coastal drives. Drive along the stunning coastal cliffs and spot fascinating wildlife along the way, such as echidnas, bandicoots, and even whales in the water below. Stop off at Split Point Lighthouse to take in the views and stop off at the quiet seaside town of Apollo Bay to enjoy lunch in a local café. You’ll then connect to Great Ocean Ecolodge, an environmentally-sustainable lodge at Cape Otway that operates a conservation project along the Great Ocean Road. You’ll overnight at the lodge and continue your journey the next day. After a morning stroll through the conservation area, enjoy a picnic lunch and then join a small group tour of the Twelve Apostles, the stunning rocky outcrops rising from the sea near Port Campbell. Continue west to Loch Ard Gorge, another stunning natural rock formation, before returning to Melbourne to end your tour.

Day 1

Split Point Lighthouse and Apollo Bay

Experience this majestic coastal drive in style, with time to relax and fully appreciate the wonders of this world famous route. Stay on the lookout for some very special animals including whales, dolphins, echidnas and bandicoots. Your camera will get a good workout along this exciting itinerary and we will allow for plenty of photo opportunities. You will have time to stroll along the wild beaches or stop for a coffee break at the striking Split Point Lighthouse and take in the awe-inspiring scenery. You will stop at Apollo Bay, a tranquil seaside town set amongst the soft rolling hills, offering a great selection of cafes and restaurants where you can stop for lunch (additional cost).

Upon arrival at the Great Ocean Road Ecolodge, there will be some time to rest, and you can join a tour through the forest to experience close encounters with koalas, kangaroos and native birds. After a sumptuous dinner, the local wildlife biologist will take you on a twilight walk to feed the nocturnal animals, before retiring to your room for a peaceful night's sleep. As a guest on this tour, you will be contributing to the Great Ocean Ecolodge's Conservation Program to protect the local tiger quolls, koalas and unique flora of the region. Please note the nocturnal animal feeding may not be available every night to avoid overfeeding.

Day 2

Victoria to Melbourne (Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge)

Wake to a leisurely breakfast at the Lodge before spending time at leisure or perhaps a self-guided walk. You will then enjoy a picnic lunch before meeting up with your small tour group in the early afternoon to visit some of the star natural attractions including the ancient rock formations of the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge. It will be finally time to say goodbye to this spectacular part of Victoria as we return for Melbourne.
