Essence of Hong Kong & Macau

FIRST-CLASS | TAILOR-MADE: An interesting combination of British Colonial Hong Kong and Portuguese influenced Macau but with a distinctive Oriental flavour, these two destinations are separated by only a short ferry ride.
Known as “the City of Life” as it never seems to sleep, Hong Kong is a vibrant and exciting city made up of the Mainland and Hong Kong Island with the famous Star Ferry linking the two. It boasts an expansive skyline and a deep natural harbour. One can enjoy so much here including fantastic shopping either in the stores or at the street markets which abound, cruise around the harbour and also enjoy the Symphony of Lights, a spectacular evening light show beamed across the harbour and reflected onto the buildings.
Stanley Market on the far side of Hong Kong Island is a maze of alleyways with a multitude of stalls selling everything under the sun with excellent bargains in clothing, watches, electronics and much more. Aberdeen, also on the Island is a floating collection of restaurants all reached by boat and a fun place to have a meal.
Victoria Peak, night or day, offers spectacular, panoramic views of the harbour and of the mainland. The breathtaking beauty of Hong Kong can never be forgotten from this vantage point.
One hour away by high-speed ferry across the Pearl River estuary is Macau – another world and very different from Hong Kong. Just strolling in the streets, one might imagine oneself in Europe. This is mainly because Macau is a former Portuguese colony. Central Macau is a great place to walk around and take in the traditional buildings. St Paul’s (Sao Paulo) Cathedral is the city’s most famous landmark but it is now only a façade as much of the church was burnt down in the 1800’s. The MacauTower hovers over the city and offers amazing views all over Macau. The A-maTemple predates the Portuguese era and is a Taoist establishment.

Macau, a Portuguese colony until December 1999, lies some 60 kilometers west of Hong Kong across the Pearl River estuary, is the oldest European settlement in the Far East dating back to 1557. More than 400 years of intermingling between Chinese and European cultures has given rise to a Macanese culture uniquely of its own.
