This tour delves into fascinating Hong Kong heritage, starting with a visit to the Kowloon Walled City Park. This charming park was once the site of a Qing Dynasty fort before becoming a haven of crime and debauchery throughout the 20th century. In 1987, with the agreement of China, the colonial government finally took control of the no-go area, resettled its inhabitants, and replaced the slum with a park. Continue on to visit one of Hong Kong's most popular temples, Wong Tai Sin, which specializes in fortune-telling and is home to three religions (Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism). Its natural setting and beautifully ornamented buildings make it as much a scenic attraction as an important religious centre. Next visit the Chi Lin Nunnery, a stunningly renovated piece of Tang dynasty architecture. You'll find halls containing a treasure trove of religious relics as well as restful lotus ponds and beautiful Bonsai trees. Finally, explore the modern Kai Tak Cruise terminal, an architectural icon on the site of the former Kai Tak Airport runway. The rooftop garden offers incredible views of both Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula. Afterwards, return to your hotel.
