FIRST-CLASS | ESCORTED COACH TOUR: Explore the southern cultural hubs of Hong Kong and Taipei on this multi-country vacation. Tour the busy streets of Hong Kong before connecting to Taiwan to explore Taipei and journey to Buddhist temples, windswept cliffs, and cultural palaces.
This 11-day Asian vacation takes you from Hong Kong to the island of Taiwan. It features first-class accommodations and shared tours.
Your vacation begins in Hong Kong, the bustling metropolis full of skyscrapers and world-class food and shopping that’s famous for its hustle and bustle. The Hong Kong Living Cultural Experience Tour will take you through some of the city’s oldest corridors to experience its unique culture firsthand. You’ll stroll along Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, ride the ferry to Hong Kong Island, enjoy spectacular views of Victoria Harbour, visit Tai Kwun and Wan Chai, and cap it all off with high tea at the Kee Wah Bakery. You’ll have another day at leisure in Hong Kong to spend your time shopping in the famous malls, feasting on excellent international cuisine, or seeing other landmarks, such as Victoria Peak, which has the best views of the island and harbour.
From Hong Kong, continue your vacation to Taiwan and the city of Taipei, the nation’s capital. Much like Hong Kong, Taipei blends a lot of different cultures, with traditional Chinese at the forefront, but also large influences from Japan, Southeast Asia, and America. After spending a night in the city, head southwest to Sun Moon Lake, the only natural lake of notable size on the island. You’ll have a chance to visit the famous Wenwu Temple or Literature Warrior Temple, which is dedicated to both Confucius as the Master of Pen and Kuan Ti as the Master of Sword. Enjoy a dip in the hot springs that evening before continuing to Kaohsiung City the next day. Explore the second-largest city in Taiwan, stopping off at Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Monastery and the Liuhe Night Market.
In Kenting, you’ll get a taste for Taiwan’s stunning landscapes, as the national park combines mountains, forests, lakes, sand dunes, beaches, and coral reefs. As you pass Hualien, you’ll reach the East Coast and the 170km of unspoiled land that showcases wind and water-eroded landforms. Closeout your exploration of the island landscape by visiting Taroko Gorge, known for its sheer marble cliffs and deep gorges dating back 230 million years. Connect back to Taipei for another day of touring, visiting Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall and the National Palace Museum, home to the greatest Chinese treasures dating back 5,000 years. Spend the rest of your time eating out at the bustling restaurants, tasting midnight snacks like the famous stinky tofu, and indulging in the city’s quirky side at themed restaurants and stores. At the end of your stay, head to the airport for your departure.
