With stays in the capital, Seoul, historic Gyeongju and its archaeological sites, the port of Busan and idyllic island of Jeju, this itinerary will give you an excellent insight into Korea.

Korea is often referred to as the "Land of the Morning Calm”. This small group journey is perfect for those who are looking to experience true Korean culture as Korea has 5,000 years of unique cultural history.

Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a city of contrasts where the new and the old co-exist in perfect harmony. Ancient palaces combine with modern cultural facilities and popular shopping districts. Seoul offers shoppers a wide variety of merchandise at large department stores, duty-free shops and at open air markets and arcades.

During your stay, visit Gyeongbokgung Palace which was rebuilt in 1868. Situated in its grounds is the largest museum in the country, the National Museum of Korea as well as the Korea National Folklore Museum. Also visit the Jogyesa Temple, the principal Zen Buddhist Temple in South Korea and have lunch in the Secret Garden followed by the Blue House, the official residence of the head of state for South Korea, a large complex of buildings in traditional Korean architectural style. Then it is time for shopping at the open-air South Gate Market and the shopping street, Insa-dong, famous for its antique stores.

Leave for Gyeongju by morning train. For 1000 years until the 10th century, Gyeongju was the capital of the Silla Dynasty. Now, almost 1000 years later, Gyeongju is an open-air museum with the remains of temples, tombs, shrines, palaces, gardens and castles. In the centre of town, Royal Tumuli Park is a huge walled area with 20 royal tombs. Nearby is Cheomseongdae, one of the oldest observatories in Eastern Asia. The finest example of Silla temple architecture is Bulguksa, a magnificent temple built on a series of stone terraces just outside Gyeongju. High above the temple, a seated Buddha gazes over Gyeongju from the Seokguram Grotto also visited.

There will be time to go to the Gyeongju National Museum with its collection of mainly Silla relics, Anapji Pond, an artificial lake surrounded by buildings which were part of the palace complex of ancient Silla, the Arts and Crafts Centre and the Silla Millenium Park, a theme park focusing on the Silla period.

Next stop is Busan, South Korea's largest port and second largest metropolis. En route there, stop at Korea’s largest temple, the impressive Tongdosa Temple. During your stay in Busan, visit Haeundae Beach, the Nurimaru APEC House, an imposing and beautiful meeting centre located on an island, the Busan Aquarium and the UN Memorial Cemetery located in a serene park which honours soldiers from 16 countries killed during the Korean War. Then one more stop at the unique Yongungsa Seaside Temple.

Fly from Busan to Jeju Island, a place of myths and legends. According to legend, three demi-gods emerged from Samsunghyeol which is said to have been on the northern slopes of Mount Halla and became the creators of the Jeju people who founded the Kingdom. One in five of the population earns their living from the sea, and in many families, the women have been divers for generations. At 1950 metres/6350 feet, Mount Halla is the highest peak in Korea visible all over the island. Jeju is a popular tourist destination and offers not only good weather and beaches but exceptional natural landscapes.

During your stay here, visit the Dragon Head Rock where you can see the Haeneo woman divers working to catch seafood, Samseonghyeol Shrine where according to legend, it was here that three demigods emerged from the ground to become the founding fathers of Jeju, the Halla Botanical Garden and the Jeju Folklore and Natural History.

The next day, it’s time to take in some of the stunning beauty of the island. Start with the Sangumburi Crater, an extinct volcano. The crater is 100 metres/325 feet deep. Over 400 species of plants and animals live inside the crater. Next is the Manjang Lava Cave, one of the longest lava tubes in the world. The cave is academically significant as rare species live in the cave and it is considered to be a world class tourist attraction.

After lunch, visit the Seongsan Sunrise Peak which rose from under the sea in a volcanic eruption over 100,000 years ago. With 99 sharp rocks surrounding the crater, it looks like a gigantic crown. The sunrise from the crater is magnificent.  Then it’s on to the Folklore Village and finally head to the Jeju “Mysterious Road” which connects 2 highways and earned its name, as objects and liquid appear to roll and flow up the hill instead of down, actually an optical illusion.

Situated in the gleaming metropolis of Busan, South Korea's second largest city, Haeundae is the city's alter ego. Ritzy and playful, Haeundae's popular beach strip, upmarket hotels, luxury stores and extravagant apartments have made it one of the country's top tourist destinations.

Sleek, modern and conveniently located in the heart of Busan's Haeundae, Citadines Haeundae Busan is an ideal living option for savvy travellers. Conveniently connected to Haeundae subway station and being 10 minutes away from Haeundae Beach, it offers easy access to a wide array of tourist attractions, department stores and entertainment outlets. Come summertime, this is a definite hotspot for locals and tourists who enjoy the sun, sand and sea.

For some well-deserved tranquillity, escape the city's hustle and bustle with a trip to Dalmaji Hill, which is a mere 15-minute taxi drive away from the residence. Global travellers liken this artsy, bohemian Busan district to Paris' Montmartre. Make sure to make your way to the hilt for an unparalleled view of the Haeundae beach and the sea.

Nature-lovers will find solace in the nearby Jangsan mountain whose peak promises break-taking views of Busan. Ride the subway from Haeundae station located just 4 minutes from Citadines Haeundae Busan to Jangsan station. A hike from the base to the peak takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. Bring some change along to snag a popsicle from the ice cream man situated at the hilt during summertime.

At the end of an adventurous day, satiate your appetite at one of Citadines Haeundae Busan's on-site restaurants or visit nearby eateries for Busan's signature delicacies such as dwaeji gukbap (pork soup) at Haeundae Market. Alternatively, opt for some DIY Korean BBQ at popular barbecue restaurants located in the property's immediate vicinity.

Finally, return to Citadines Haeundae Busan conveniently located in the middle of Haeundae, to wind down at the private lounge garden or indulge in a fun game of pool.
