Laos Adventure Boutique River Cruise

Duration
6 Days
Prices From:
US$ 1,072

Journey down the majestic banks of the Mekong River on this secluded river cruise. Witness the traditional rhythms of Laotian life, swim the waters beneath the magnificent Kuang Si Waterfall, and enjoy the boutique comforts of the Mekong Sun river vessel.

Take a 6-day river cruise through recently-inaccessible regions of the legendary Mekong River.

Your Laos vacation begins in Luang Prabang, at the meeting point of the Mekong and Khan Rivers. This Laotian city boasts a charming blend of French colonial architecture and bustling modern growth. It was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. A city tour will get you acquainted with Luang Prabang’s 33 wats and village-like atmosphere. In the morning, witness the Tak Bat, when saffron-robed monks silently collect alms throughout the city.

From Luang Prabang, embark on the Mekong Sun, an exclusive, state-of-the-art vessel that’s ready to take you down the Mekong River. Built in 2006, the Mekong Sun is a boutique ship perfectly calibrated for river travel. With only 14 cabins, each with wood-paneling, hardwood floors, air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms, the vessel is made for intimate travel of spectacular environments. You can enjoy Laotian food at the onboard restaurant or relax with a cocktail in the bar. There are also two viewing decks perfect for watching the jungle as you sail down the river.

Onboard the Mekong Sun, you will explore the dense jungle wilderness and unspoiled nature of the Mekong River. This secluded river cruise takes you with the current to survey the banks and forests that line the river. During this cruise you’ll witness the traditional lifestyles of Laotian villagers, which revolve around the river and what it provides. Visit a traditional Laotian village school to learn about the educational processes of the region’s youth. At the Kuang Si Waterfalls, you can swim in the crystal-clear waters and turquoise pools beneath the magnificent falls. At the Pak Ou Caves, marvel at thousands of Buddha statues that decorate the cave and observe the production of Lao-Lao, a local liquor.

This Laos tour combines the elegance of a boutique cruise with the unmatched natural and cultural sites of the Mekong riverside.
