MODERATE | SMALL GROUP: Hike and summit Borneo’s highest peak on this challenging and spectacular active adventure!
Mount Kinabalu is Borneo’s highest peak, rising 4,095 metres into the air. Easily accessible to most fit climbers, no special mountaineering equipment is necessary to conquer the peak. It is however recommended to take your time acclimatizing to the ascent as you move through six distinctive zones of vegetation.
The mountain is inhabited by over 300 species of birds and 100 different mammals. Lucky hikers may even spot an orangutan.

Kota Kinabalu National Park
Depart your hotel in Kota Kinabalu, for a 2-hour drive along the ridges of the Crocker Range, to arrive at the Kinabalu Park. Join in the guided walk along one of the forest trails to get a first-hand impression of the Park and its unique flora before visiting the Mountain Garden with its collection of orchids and plants that are unique to Kinabalu. In the afternoon explore more of the forest in the park at your own leisure (unguided). Dinner and overnight in twin-bedded rooms non heated.

Summit of Mount Kinabalu
After breakfast meet your mountain guide at 8:00 AM at the Park HQ and proceed to the summit trail. The summit trail leads you through the tropical oak and chestnut forest, mossy forest and up to the sub-alpine forest. Look for rhododendrons, pitcher plants, orchids and other flora native to this area. Shelters along the way allow you to enjoy your packed lunch amidst the cool mountain air. Spend the night in a rest house (non-heated) at the elevation of approximately 3,200 m above sea level.
Accommodation is basic (bunk beds and dormitory style).

Summit to Kota Kinabalu
Depart at 3:00 AM and proceed to the summit for the sunrise. Return to Laban Rata Restaurant for breakfast before descending to Park Headquarters for lunch. At 3:00 PM, depart Kinabalu Park for Kota Kinabalu City and return to your hotel.
