Day 4

Three Gorges Dam and Disembark in Yichang

After breakfast, arrive at the Three Gorges Project Dam Site and Exhibition Centre. The dam spans 1.2 miles in width and 600 feet in height, and is the largest and most expensive engineering project in the world. The dam's 32 generators generate a massive amount of electricity which helps reduce China's reliance on coal. However the project also caused much controversy, due to submerging 13 cities, 140 towns, 1352 villages, over 600 industrial factories and more than 1200 archaeological projects. 1.2 million people were re-settled as a result of the flooding. Disembark the vessel at Yichang around midday.
