On your first stop today, you will visit Nanjing Road, a must-see metropolitan destination attracting thousands of fashion-seeking shoppers from all over the world. Next, visit the Yu Garden located at the heart of Old Town and considered one of the most lavish and finest Chinese gardens in the region.
Then it's onward to the Bund, also called the Zhongshan Road, a famous waterfront that has been regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years. Located to the south of the Bund, the old Chinese city was a walled fishing town when the British arrived in 1843. Modern Shanghai grew up around it.
Finally, you will venture to the western part of Shanghai where there is a venerable and famous Buddhist temple, the Jade Buddha Temple. In 1882, an old temple was built to keep two jade Buddha statues, which had been brought from Burma by a monk named Huigen. The temple was destroyed during the revolution that overthrew the Qing Dynasty. Fortunately, the jade Buddha statues were saved and a new temple was built on the present site in 1928. Lunch is included.
