Escape to Thailand to refresh yourself with visits to Bangkok and Chiang Rai. In Bangkok, learn to cook Thai cuisine at the Blue Elephant Cooking School and discover hidden temples and farms before heading to Chiang Rai to visit the hill tribes and see the gorgeous temples of this northern city.

This 8-day Thai vacation takes you to Bangkok and Chiang Rai to experience the best of the country and relax, rejuvenate, and refresh yourself. It includes first-class or deluxe accommodations depending on preference, international airfare, private tours, and is perfect for solo travellers.

Your Thailand Unplugged trip takes you across the Pacific Ocean to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand and the most-visited city on the planet. It won’t take long to notice Bangkok’s stunning contrasts. Massive skyscrapers sit beside wooden huts; luxury malls jostle for baht alongside bustling farmers’ markets—no one side of Bangkok is quintessential. It takes both the big and small, rich and modest, to capture what makes Bangkok so invigorating. On your first day in the city, head to the Blue Elephant Cooking School to learn to make delicious Thai dishes. The next day, head off the tourist trail on a bike tour across the city. Discover hidden temples, travel along the canal, and stop off at flower farms to learn about some of Thailand’s oldest traditions. Spend the rest of your time in Bangkok seeing the famous landmarks like Wat Arun, Wat Phra Kaew, and the Grand Palace, former home of the King of Thailand.

From Bangkok, connect to Chiang Rai, the mountainous city that used to be a capital of the Lanna Kingdom. Quieter than Bangkok or nearby Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai is known for its gorgeous architecture and quaint atmosphere. It also provides easy access to the surrounding hill country. One day, you’ll head into the countryside to meet with hill tribes, including the famous Karen people, who are known for their elaborate necklaces and elongated necks. You’ll conclude that day with a cruise down the Kok River and a visit to the Pong Nam Lon Hot Springs. The rest of your time in Chiang Rai is at leisure. Tour the temples of Wat Phra Singh and Wat Phra That Chedi Luang before exploring the Night Bazaar when the sun falls. Also be sure to see Wat Rong Khun, the bizarre, whitewashed temple with dragon scaling that won’t be completed for another 100 years.

At the end of your journey, connect to the airport to head back home.
