This full day tour from Auckland is designed to showcase the best of rural New Zealand landscape and enjoy all that the Waitomo area has to offer. The tour starts with Auckland city hotel pickups and a drive with expert commentary through the Waikato region of New Zealand with its rich Maori history and stunning farming landscapes.
Upon arrival at Waitomo join the legendary Black Water Rafting Company for one hour Black Labyrinth tour of the cave system. In your wetsuit you will be gliding through the cave system on the underground stream in an inner tube. You'll take leaps of faith over cascading waterfalls and float serenely down an underground river as you enjoy the glow worm show on the vaulted limestone galleries up above. You then take a short drive to our lunch destination in a beautiful rural location where the group has a traditional New Zealand barbecue buffet lunch with the barbecue expertly cooked to order.
After lunch, visit the Otorohanga Kiwi house and native bird park where you get the rare chance to see New Zealand's iconic Kiwi bird being fed by their keepers. You also learn about what the centre is doing with their kiwi breeding programme to help the endangered birds. There is also an opportunity to have a look at some of the other rare and iconic New Zealand birds and animals that the park has. A relaxed drive back to Auckland completes the day.
