Escape the workaday life to explore some of Australia’s most famous sights. On this two-week tour, you’ll head from Melbourne to Darwin to Sydney to explore the wonders of the Great Ocean Road and Victoria, tour the billabongs of Kakadu National Park, and enjoy the pleasures of the nation’s largest cities.

This 14-day Australian vacation takes you to the cities of Melbourne, Darwin, and Sydney as well as the wild parks of the Top End.

After crossing the Pacific Ocean and the international dateline, your trip to Australia begins in Melbourne, the country’s cultural capital and one of the most livable cities in the world. You won’t find a better mix of arts and culture and high living standards anywhere else in the country. On your first full day in the city, head on a sightseeing tour to see the city highlights. Begin in Federation Square, home to the city’s trendy laneway and rooftop bars, before seeing other sights like St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the traditional neighbourhood of St. Kilda’s. Climb the Eureka Tower to enjoy spectacular views of the city. That evening, dine at the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant, where you’ll experience a classical atmosphere and delicious food in the world’s first moving tramcar restaurant.

Spend the next two days on a journey through the best of Victoria. Begin along the Great Ocean Road and see the Twelve Apostles, the breathtaking rocky outcrops along the coast. Pass into Great Otway National Park and explore the ancient eucalyptus forest around the Great Ocean Road Ecolodge before spending the evening in Queenscliff. The next day, explore Sorrento, the first settlement in Victoria. Then journey across the Morington Peninsula, beginning with a ride on the state-of-the-art gondola up Arthur’s Seat for stunning views. After lunch, feed kangaroos and wallabies at the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park. End the day on Phillip Island to see the adorable Little Penguin Parade where hundreds of pint-sized Little Penguins waddle onto shore at sunset.

From Melbourne, continue your Australian vacation by heading to Darwin, where the Outback meets the city. Darwin is a tropical city perched on Australia’s Top End. Spend a day touring the city and its many highlights. Start at Crocosaurus Cove, where you’ll get up close to saltwater crocodiles. Afterwards, head to the Botanical Gardens to see stunning tropical plants, visit the East Point Military Precinct to learn about the city’s World War II history, and the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory to learn about the territory’s history and see the country’s best collection of Indigenous art.

Darwin is also the gateway to Kakadu National Park and the wilds of the Northern Territory. Spend three days on a Dragonfly Dreaming 4WD Safari tour of Kakadu and the surrounding parks. Begin with a visit to Ubirr Rock in Kakadu, where you’ll see some of the country’s oldest rock art. Continue to Nadab Lookout for stunning views of Arnhem Land before ending the first day at the Warradjan Cultural Centre where you’ll learn about the region’s 40,000 years of Indigenous history. The next day, journey along the Yellow Waters billabong to spot crocodiles alongside your canoe. Swim in Gubara Springs and head to Nawurlandja Lookout for final views of Kakadu. On the final day of your exploration of the Top End, head to Litchfield National Park to see the park’s sandstone escarpments, marvel at the giant magnetic termite mounds, and explore Florence and Wnagi Falls.

Connect back to Darwin and fly to Sydney, the final stop on your escape to Australia. Sydney is the largest city in the country and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Take a two-hour cruise to see its most famous sights from the waters of the harbour, including the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Continue to the historic Rocks neighbourhood to learn about the city’s foundation as a penal colony before reaching Bondi Beach, where surfers around the world come to surf the harbour’s breaks. Spend the rest of your time in Sydney dining in its world-class restaurants and enjoying the city’s gorgeous natural environment. At the end of your stay, head to the airport for your flight back to North America.

Be dazzled by the wondrous sights of Australia's most vibrant city and learn about Melbourne's fascinating history with your expert guide. Join a small group tour with Oceania to make the most of your stay as you zoom in and around the city, visiting such wonders as Federation Square, the MCG and our world-famous sports precinct, St Patrick's Cathedral, Albert Park Lake (Formula 1) and over to St Kilda Beach. Dining in Melbourne can be a fabulous experience, especially aboard the fleet of historical trams that have become The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant.
