Aussie Southern Explorer

Duration
14 Days
Prices From:
US$ 2,689

Encompassing Melbourne, Hobart, and Adelaide and including flights from North America, this two-week trip is the perfect introduction to a different side of Australia, or the ideal second trip for someone who's already seen the famous landmarks.

Ideal for a second trip to Australia, or for those just keen to see a different side of the country, this 14-day air-inclusive trip focuses on the southern states, Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia, showcasing the country’s culture, its colonial history, and its best wine regions.

Land in Melbourne, repeatedly named the world’s ‘Most Liveable City’ and undoubtedly the sport, fashion, art, and cultural capital of Australia. While you won’t experience it all in four days, an i-Venture Attraction Pass gets you off to a good start, giving you access to seven of the city’s best attractions. Start with the Eureka Skydeck and take in the view from 300 metres above the Yarra River and the inner city. The following day, a sightseeing tour ensures you don’t miss Melbourne’s highlights, including Captain Cook’s Cottage in Fitzroy Gardens, the impressive Parliament House and Windsor Hotel on Spring Street, the hallowed sporting grounds of the MCG and Rod Laver Arena, the Shrine of Remembrance, and much more, finally disembarking at Federation Square for a cruise on the Yarra.

The following day, choose two from historic Melbourne Gaol, the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, and the Sealife Aquarium. Any are great choices with or without kids in tow, while offering three very different experiences in the city. Of course, there’s still plenty left to see and do, so you’ll have a day at leisure to pick up any sights you’ve missed, or embark on one of Melbourne’s great day trips, to Phillip Island, the Yarra Valley wine region, or the Great Ocean Road, home of the famous Twelve Apostles.

Southern Explorers

Fly to Hobart, where small is beautiful. The capital of Tasmania is in one of Australia’s most historic regions. Take a hop on hop off bus tour to see the highlights, choosing from over 20 stops. Just outside the city, visit Richmond, an historic village that served as one of the island’s most important colonies in the early 19th century. Visit Australia’s oldest convict road bridge, the old gaol, and classic homes of the era. Finally, spend a full day exploring Hobart as it is today, picking up any sights you’ve missed, or perhaps visit MONA, the much lauded Museum of Old and New Art, just outside of town.

Your final stop in Australia is Adelaide, capital of South Australia. Known as the Festival State, this part of the country takes its arts, food, and good living seriously. But wine is its most famous export! Take a tour of the famous Barossa Valley, sampling a number of the region’s most famous wines, and enjoying food tastings at local institutions such as Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop. End your day with a tasting at Pindarie, an award winning cellar door reminiscent of an old Australian homestead.

Enjoy a day at leisure in Adelaide, with the option of a walking tour or dolphin swim before you depart.
