Tropical Adventure: Brisbane to Cairns

10 Days
Prices From:
US$ 2,153

Heads up, sun seekers! Your tropical Queensland vacation is here! Set out from either Brisbane or Cairns and discover the best sights and most memorable experiences of Queensland’s diverse coastline. Hit the dunes and discover the history of Fraser Island, sail the Whitsundays, and explore the Great Barrier Reef.

This 10-day Australia vacation keeps the focus on sunny Queensland, giving you the choice to travelling north or south between Brisbane and Cairns.

If you set out from Brisbane, your first stop is Fraser Island. Like a desert island covered with dingoes and forests to explore, Fraser offers 4WD tours, a fascinating history (check out the Moreno Shipwreck) and as you’d expect, awesome beaches year round. Next, you’ll head up to Myella Farm, with a chance to stop at the Bundaberg rum distillery for a tour and tasting. Queensland is a state that runs on its farms, so try your hand at horse riding, jump on the back of a motorbike, or learn about the traditional owners of the land, learning about the Totems crucial to the local Aboriginal culture. You can even try throwing a boomerang or creating your own Indigenous-style artwork.

Your next stop is the Whitsunday Islands… and you may not want to leave. With unspoiled blue waters at ideal temperatures throughout the year, and arguably Australia’s best beach, Whitehaven, on Whitsunday Island itself, this could be the closest Queensland gets to Heaven. Best of all, you’ll be aboard your own private yacht for two days of exploration, swimming, snorkelling, and more. You can even have a shot at the helm to test your seafaring skills.

Then spend a night on Magnetic Island, just off the coast of Townsville. Where you’ll enjoy a private tour of a local wildlife park, including some close encounters with some of Australia's furriest, and scaliest native animals. Your final stop is Cairns, set between the magnificent Great Barrier Reef and the lush rainforests of Kuranda and the Great Dividing Range. You’ve had a pretty busy schedule so far, so it’s up to you how to spend your time here. Take an optional Great Barrier Reef trip if you can’t get enough colour beneath the sea, or head inland to explore the natural beauty of tropical North Queensland’s forests.

And if you’d rather end your adventure in the big city, the entire trip can be done in reverse, departing from Cairns.
