Day 1

Cairns to Cooktown

Travel by purpose built 4WD vehicle north along The Great Barrier Reef. Drive from Cairns to Cape Tribulation along spectacular coastline hugging two World Heritage areas. Cross the Daintree River on the cable ferry for a leisurely drive through ancient rainforest. Enjoy morning tea of tasty homemade scones with jam and cream and sip on the fresh local Daintree Tea or coffee. Your experienced guide will enlighten your journey with incredible stories and history as you continue on the 4WD only Bloomfield Track which will take you through some of the most incredible scenery in the country, crossing rivers and climbing mountain ranges. Visit the Bana Yirriji Art and Cultural Centre, Wujal Wujal, which is located on the banks of the Bloomfield River with an opportunity to visit and talk with local Indigenous artists. Enjoy lunch before continuing north to visit the infamous and quirky Lion's Den Hotel one of Queensland's landmark pubs. A short distance see the unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain before arriving in Cooktown. Ascend Grassy Hill for the spectacular panoramic views of the Endeavour River, Coral Sea and Cooktown. Have your camera ready! Transfer to the Sovereign Resort for your overnight accommodation in Cooktown, Enjoy the sunset overlooking the Endeavour River and evening at leisure.

Day 2


A free Day to explore Cooktown, visit the World Class James Cook Museum or stroll the self-guided heritage walk along the main street and shores of the Endeavour River. The unique charm and historic atmosphere of the main street still prevails. You can experience the un-spoilt beauty of the area, which remains much the same as when Captain Cook discovered in 1770. Late this afternoon we depart Cooktown via the inland road, The Mulligan Highway, travelling through a diverse landscape of North Queensland Outback, cattle stations and the Palmer River Gold mine region rich in history of the gold rush era. A meal break (at your own expense) on the return journey before your tour of exploring comes to a close and transferred to your accommodation.
