Explore the beautiful vistas and thriving artistic culture of Australia’s Top End on this 13 day voyage available in either direction between Cairns and Darwin.

Lizard Island is one of the Great Barrier Reef’s most secluded gems, where you can swim, snorkel, or learn more about the efforts of scientists around the world to preserve the Reef. Visit the rarely seen Endaen Aboriginal rock art of Stanley Island, and enjoy further underwater exploration at Davey Reef and Forbes Island. Discover Cape York and the fascinating indigenous culture of the Torres Strait as you visit Thursday Island. A short charter flight takes you to Nhulunbuy. Learn about this frontier town and explore the local artwork before a luxurious stay in Gove’s Walkabout Lodge. Cruise through the famous ‘Hole in the Wall’ before you watch the sunset over a gourmet Aussie Beach BBQ.

The local artists of Elcho Island have been featured in some of the world’s most famous galleries, including the Louvre. You’ll have the chance to meet some of them and gain an insight into the local culture, before going on to Maningrida Art Centre, where locally produced clothing and fabrics are offered for sale. The Tiwi people welcome you to remote Bathurst and Melville Islands, where you’ll enjoy a cultural performance, basketweaving demonstration and traditional Australian afternoon tea.

Depart Darwin

Boarding commences at Fort Hill Wharf in Darwin ahead of a 6:00pm departure. This evening enjoy the Captain's Welcome Drinks before sitting down to the first of many delicious dinners as you cross the Arafura Sea.

Day 2

Tiwi Islands

This morning you visit Melville Island. With traditional Tiwi people as your guides learn of the unique cultures of the Tiwi islanders and visit their fascinating art centres. There is the opportunity to purchase wonderful screen-printing, art, woodcarvings and pottery.

Day 3

Cobourg Peninsula

On Cobourg Peninsula, Port Essington is famous for the ruins of the failed Victoria Settlement. Here, you will use the services of the National Park Rangers to guide and help the group explore the ruins. You will also visit the Ranger's Interpretation Centre at Black Point.

Day 4

Arnhem Land Coast and Art Centre

Having cruised through Bowen Strait and across the Arnhem Land coast make landfall on one the remote islands of the area. Join your Expedition Leader and Guest Lecturers as they share a unique cultural experience with the opportunity to view and purchase local art and share the life and traditions of the community.

Elcho Island Artists

The friendly locals of Elcho Island proudly welcome you to their community this morning. Meet some of the local artists who have their unique art exhibited in the famous art galleries of the world including the Louvre. This evening enjoy a gourmet Aussie beach BBQ on one of the beautiful islands as you toast the sunset over the Arafura Sea.

Wessel Islands, Hole in the Wall, Gove

Today, you will cruise through "The Hole in the Wall", Malay Straits and berth in the port of Nhulunbuy (Gove). On disembarking, you will be transferred to the Walkabout Lodge, where you will be spending the night.

Day 7

Gove and Horn Islands

This morning, you will join a tour to discover this frontier town and experience local culture, industry and history. After lunch, you will stop by the Yirrkala Arts and Crafts Centre and transfer to the airport for your charter flight across the Gulf of Carpentaria to Horn Island. Tonight you will stay at the historic and pioneering Gateway Torres Strait Resort, a longstanding family business which offers an insightful, personal war museum sharing the local history from World War II.

Day 8

Thursday Island

This morning embark on a short tour of Horn Island prior to your transfer by ferry to Thursday Island where you rejoin the Coral Expeditions I. During the tour of Thursday Island learn of the history of European settlement and the large pearling fleets. You will also have the opportunity to observe the distinctly different cultures of the Torres Strait Islanders and the Aboriginals. Following a short cruise to Cape York travel ashore and enjoy the sunset and champagne at the 'Tip' of Australia.

Day 9

Forbes Island and Reef

Enjoy the day exploring historic Forbes Island. Whilst the reef offers some fantastic swimming and snorkelling opportunities, you may also wish to enjoy a short walk to the summit and enjoy the outlook over the surrounding reef and islands.

Day 10

Davey Reef and Flinders Group of Islands

At Davey Reef and Cay, you will enjoy swimming and snorkelling and will observe the large seabird rookery. You'll then go ashore at Stanley Island and view the Endaen Aboriginal rock art gallery depicting sailing ships of the last century. This is a unique art site, seldom visited due to its isolated location.

Day 11

Lizard Island

Here you spend the day at one of the most beautiful islands on the Queensland Coast. You have the opportunity to climb Cook's Look, enjoy swimming and snorkelling and a beach walk. Subject to availability, you may be invited as special guests to visit the Lizard Island Research Station, where you will learn more about the research being undertaken to help understand and preserve the Great Barrier Reef.

Day 12

Cooktown

Enjoy a visit to the historic Cooktown where Captain Cook took refuge during his voyage of discovery. This evening, you will join the Captain and crew for Farewell Drinks.
