Treasures of Australia Premier Escorted Luxury Vacation
- Duration
- 15 Days
- Prices From:
- US$ 4,495
Discover the icons of Oz on this luxury vacation to Australia. As you cross the country and stay in premium accommodations, you’ll see Uluru/Ayers Rock in the Red Centre, cruise the Great Barrier Reef at Port Douglas, and explore the urban wonders of Melbourne and Sydney.
This 15-day Australia vacation takes you from the country’s Red Centre to tropical Queensland to the largest cities, Melbourne and Sydney, while staying in premium accommodations.
Your trip to Australia begins in Alice Springs, the definitive Outback town in the Northern Territory. Situated halfway between Darwin and Adelaide, Alice Springs is an eccentric desert town, where camels roam the desert and airplane doctors are the norm. Visit Todd Mall to take in some of the best Indigenous art galleries in the country before climbing Anzac Hill for a gorgeous panoramic view of the town and the MacDonnell Ranges. You can also opt for a dawn balloon flight or a camel ride at sunset to experience the magic of the landscape. Continue along to Kata Tjuta and Uluru/Ayers Rock, the sandstone formations that define the Outback. Spend a day exploring Kata Tjuta and Walpa Gorge, ending with a Sounds of Silence dinner in the evening, where you’ll experience the haunting and beautiful sounds of the Outback. The next day, explore Uluru at sunrise and see the massive sandstone monolith glow a deep read before flying to Cairns in the afternoon.
Cairns is Australia’s gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. It might be small, but it has an incredible tropical atmosphere. Shop along the Promenade and take a dip in the massive saltwater lagoon before continuing on to Port Douglas. In Port Douglas, you’ll take a cruise out to the Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef system. Snorkel beneath the waves for an up-close view of the reef’s amazing sea life. Afterwards, visit Cape Tribulation, where you can dip in the crystal-clear streams of Emmagen Creek and stroll along the pristine beach. You’ll also visit the Daintree Rainforest, the mystical home of the “dreamtime” that has been a significant part of Indigenous Australian culture for thousands of years.
Our Australian tours continue south from Queensland to Melbourne, the country’s cultural capital and the world’s most livable city. You won’t find a more vibrant mix of arts, culture, and high living standards anywhere else in the country. Your time in Melbourne will be at leisure. Head to Federation Square to hang out in laneway bars and rooftop restaurants and experience ground zero for the city’s trendsetters. Get in touch with the city’s history in St. Kilda’s or ride a rollercoaster at Luna Park. While in Melbourne, you’ll also have the opportunity to take advantage of nearby highlights. Head to Phillip Island to witness the adorable Little Penguin Parade, where up to a hundred Little Penguins waddle onto land at sundown. Head to the Yarra Valley to enjoy some of Australia’s best wines, or drive along the Great Ocean Road to see the Twelve Apostles and other natural icons of Australia.
Close out your Australia vacation in Sydney, the largest city in Australia and the most beautiful. Blessed with a massive natural harbour, Australia is one of the world’s true urban highlights. There are a lot of ways to spend your time in Sydney, so follow your fancy and take advantage of the city’s multifaceted appeal. Be sure to visit the harbour to see the iconic Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. If you want to take advantage of the sun, head to Bondi Beach and bond with the surfers who turn to Sydney when northerly countries grow cold. Say “G’day” to marsupials like kangaroos, koalas, and wombats at Taronga Zoo, or go for a full-day hike in the gorgeous Blue Mountains to get a taste of Australia’s famous wilderness. Sydney will also treat you well if you have an appetite for culture; with plenty of museums, world-class restaurants, and thumping nightclubs, you’ll find a lot to keep you occupied.
