Great Barrier Reef, Wildlife and Culture Escape

Duration
14 Days
Prices From:
US$ 3,829

You'll enjoy some amazing Aussie experiences on this fantastic vacation. Start with 4 days in the gorgeous Whitsundays, with access to the Great Barrier Reef before heading down to cosmopolitan Melbourne. Fly to Adelaide, gateway to the Barossa Valley Wine Region, and Kangaroo Island, known as a zoo with fences for some amazing wildlife viewing.

This 14-day trip to Australia takes you from the Great Barrier Reef in northeastern Queensland to Adelaide and Kangaroo Island in South Australia.

Your Australia vacation begins with a transpacific flight from Los Angeles. Upon arrival in Australia, you’ll connect to Hamilton Island in northeastern Queensland, one of the most popular resort destinations in all of Australia—and for good reason. This incredible island is in the heart of the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef. Get acquainted with the town and its resort atmosphere by strolling down Front Street before taking to the water to explore the underwater ecosystems of Hardy Reef. Take a flight over the singular Heart Reef. Afterwards, visit Whitehaven Beach, one of the most gorgeous beaches in the world with impossibly fine white sand.

qantas whitsundaysAfter surveying the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef, head south to Adelaide to take in a city that boasts quiet charm. The city is defined by its Victorian architecture and relaxed atmosphere, consistently ranking as one of the most livable cities on the planet and a marvelous centre for museums. Visit a museum like the South Australian Museum to learn about the state’s history before sampling the booming multicultural food scene that sees a new bar or restaurant seemingly open every week.

Pass into the Barossa Valley to visit wineries in one of Australia premier wine regions. In the midst of wine tastings and strolls through vineyards, stop by Mengler Hill Lookout for a spectacular view of the region. Head to the coast to reach Kangaroo Island, Australia’s biodiverse answer to the Galapagos Islands. This island is home to mindboggling number of animals and distinct ecosystems. Take a guided visit in the company of a National Park Ranger at Seal Bay Conservation Park to see where the vast majority of Australian fur seals nest. At the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, you can hand feed kangaroos and get up close and cuddly with a koala. End your time on the island by heading to Flinders Chase National Park and seeing the Remarkable Rocks and the impressive stalactite formation of Admirals Arch. Return to Adelaide to close out your Australia vacation in style before flying back to North America.
