Hawaii, Sydney and Great Barrier Reef

Duration
14 Days
Prices From:
US$ 3,369

Embark on the ultimate escape to the South Pacific. Start in Hawaii, where you’ll visit Pearl Harbor and enjoy world-famous Waikiki Beach. Then connect to Australia to see the iconic Opera House in Sydney and venture north to Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest.

This 14-day Australia vacation takes you to several South Pacific wonders, including Hawaii, Sydney, and the Great Barrier Reef. International airfare is included in the pricing.

Your South Pacific vacation begins in Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii located on the island of Oahu. There are few places that conjure as charming a tropical atmosphere as Hawaii. During your time in Honolulu, you’ll stay at Ohana Waikiki East, a family-friendly hotel that’s a short walk from famous Waikiki Beach and the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. On your first full day in Hawaii, you’ll tour the historic site of Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial, which straddles the sunken battleship USS Arizona, where 1,177 servicemen lost their lives on December 7, 1941. Pay respects to the fallen victims and learn about that fateful day before heading to Punchbowl Cemetery, a resting place for American soldiers built atop an extinct volcano. At day’s end, head into downtown Honolulu to see the seat of the Hawaiian State Government and Iolani Palace, the only royal palace in America. The rest of your stay in Hawaii is at leisure. Shop at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Centre, surf off the shores of Waikiki Beach, and enjoy a famous luau.

From Hawaii, cross the international dateline on route to Sydney, one of the world’s great natural wonders and Australia’s largest urban centre. Blessed with a massive natural harbour and home to a diverse array of go-getters, Sydney is gorgeous and vibrant and one of the world’s true urban highlights. There are a lot of ways to spend your time while in Sydney, so follow your fancy and take advantage of the city’s multifaceted appeal. Be sure to visit the harbour to see the iconic Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. If you want to take advantage of the sun, head to Bondi Beach and bond with the surfers who turn to Sydney when northerly countries grow cold. To say “G’day” to marsupials like kangaroos, koalas, and wombats, head to Taronga Zoo, or go for a full-day hike in the gorgeous Blue Mountains to get a taste of Australia’s famous wilderness. Sydney will also treat you well if you have an appetite for culture; with plenty of museums, world-class restaurants, and thumping nightclubs, you’ll find a lot to keep you occupied.

From Sydney, head north and connect to your final destination, tropical Cairns. Cairns is the nation’s gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. It may be small, but it boasts an incredible tropical atmosphere. One day, you’ll explore the sights and surroundings of the city, marvelling at the world’s largest stained glass windows at St. Monica’s Cathedral, touring Cairns Museum to learn about the city’s history, and heading to Barron Gorge National Park and Palm Grove to admire one of the most picturesque beaches in the city. The rest of your time in the city in at leisure. Take a dip in the massive saltwater lagoon. Head on an excursion onto the Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest living structure and home to over 1,500 species of fish. Snorkel through colourful coral gardens and spot everything from dolphins to jellyfish to sea turtles. You can also head to the Daintree Rainforest to discover the mystical home of the Dreamtime and experience the overwhelming greenery of this tropical jungle. At the end of your time in Cairns, connect back to North America, passing back over the international dateline.
