Hobart: Tasmania Complete: Premier Escorted Vacation

Duration
12 Days
Prices From:
US$ 5,430

Prepare for a journey of discovery, delving into colourful history and awe-inspiring natural highlights of Tasmania. Explore the remote west coast, roam the best of Cradle Mountain National Park, take in the incredible viewpoints of the state's east, and explore one of the world's cheekiest art spaces.

This 12-day round trip coach tour from Hobart offers you the freedom to explore the Tasmania moments that interest you, along with the luxury of hand-picked accommodation and fine dining throughout the Apple Isle.

Spend one night in small but enchanting Hobart, taking a guided tour of the city before a welcome dinner and drink. Then set out for the remote beauty of Tasmania’s West Coast, travelling through Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, one of Australia’s undisputed natural wonders. You’ll overnight in Strahan, the hub of the west coast, before sailing into the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park via Macquarie Harbour. Your coach then takes you to the edge of Cradle Mountain St Clair National Park.

See the best of Cradle Mountain as you explore the serene and beautiful Dove Lake. After your guided walk, you’ll have the option to enjoy a wine and cheese tasting, learn more about the local wildlife, or go searching for native animals on a night spotlight tour. Then really get out there as you drive on to Tasmania’s northwest corner. This region is home to some spectacular lookouts, the pristine Julius River Forest Reserve, and one of the few healthy wild Tasmanian devil populations.

Turn eastward to Launceston, Tasmania’s second city and home to its oldest conservatory, as well as the photogenic Cataract Gorge. You’ll visit a local winery devoted to Tasmania’s unique flavours, and have the freedom to choose a visit to Seahorse World, Platypus House, Beaconsfield Mine, or the historic James Boag brewery. The Launceston region is also known for its Lavender, which you’ll learn about on a visit to the Bridestowe Lavender Estate. This includes a tour of the distillery to taste some of the more creative uses of this colourful flower! Afterwards, enjoy a close (but not too close) encounter with Tasmanian devils at East Coast Natureworld.

Tasmania’s east coast offers some of the most inspiring national parks and walks in Australia. Enjoy a gourmet barbecue at Cape Tourville, and take in the view over Coles Bay. On your final drive toward Hobart, culture vultures will definitely want to divert to the cheeky and always interesting Museum of Old & New Art. Label free and packed with cheeky humour and provocative exhibits, this is not ye olde stuffy, traditional art gallery! Alternatively, take a tour through the history of alcohol in Hobart, or an historic walking tour. No matter which option you choose, you’ll stop in at the beautiful heritage town of Richmond en route.

After settling back into Hobart, visit the Port Arthur Historic Site, one of the most important and infamous in Australia’s complicated convict history. Explore the sandstone Penitentiary, the Convict Church, and take a cruise around the Isle of the Dead. Guides conduct free tours throughout the day. Returning to Hobart, perhaps spend your final day at the Salamanca Market in search of that perfect Tassie souvenir.
