HOW TO GET THERE:
By Helicopter
Several helicopter companies operate flights from Auckland to Kauri Cliffs. Travel direct to Kauri Cliffs is approximately 1 hour. We can make these arrangements for you.
By Airplane
Air New Zealand operates scheduled flights daily from Auckland to Kerikeri/Bay of Islands airport. Charter flights can also be organized. Kauri Cliffs will meet your flight upon request.
By Car
Approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes from Auckland.
- Take State Highway 1 from Auckland to Whangarei (2 hours)
- Stay on Highway 1 past Whangarei to Kawakawa (approximately 50 minutes)
- Pass through Kawakawa, staying on Highway 1 until you reach the Kerikeri turnoff at Pakaraka junction
- Turn right onto State Highway 10
- Stay on Highway 10 for approximately 40 minutes. Turn right onto Matauri Bay Road
- Follow Matauri Bay Road until you see the sign for "Kauri Cliffs"
- Turn right onto Tepene Tablelands Road which leads to the lodge
Approximately 25 minutes from Kerikeri Airport.
- Turn left onto State Highway 10
- Stay on Highway 10 for approximately 15 minutes.
- Turn right onto Matauri Bay Road Follow Matauri Bay Road until you see the sign for "Kauri Cliffs"
- Turn right onto Tepene Tablelands Road which leads to the lodge
ACCOMMODATION:
Kauri Cliffs consists of eleven outlying guest cottages, each with two guest suites providing twenty-two accommodation units at Kauri Cliffs. Every suite offers its own private porch, comfortable bedroom with sitting area and open fireplace, walk-in his and hers wardrobes and a bathroom with a shower, bathtub and his and hers vanities. The cottages are nestled on the edge of a native forest overlooking the ocean and golf course.
The eleven cottages comprise 16 Deluxe units (approximately 900 sq ft) and 6 standard units (approximately 765 sq ft) which are nestled on the edge of native bush looking east from private verandas across the golf course and the Pacific Ocean. They are in a staggered row to the north of the main lodge building along a meandering tree studded path.
The main bedroom features an open gas fireplace, superior mini-bar, large armoire with a TV, DVD player, CD player, super-king bed (able to be split into 2 super-singles), rattan armchairs, writing desk and ottomans.
The "Security" rooms
There are two "security" rooms in addition to the 22 Deluxe and Standard suites. Featuring two single beds, en-suite bathroom and wardrobe, these rooms are used predominantly for accompanying security, drivers, minders or children.
FACILTIES AND ACTIVITIES:
Guests can enjoy Kauri Cliff's beautiful property and also experience a variety of nearby activities including world famous game fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, sea kayaking, and hunting for boar.
Guided tours feature visits to the Ninety Mile Beach, Tane Mahuta, Doubtless Bay, the Puketi Kauri Forest, Rainbow Falls, historic Russell and the Waitangi Treaty House.
