The Kimberley Ultimate Luxury Adventure Cruise

Duration
14 Days
Prices From:
US$ 17,374

Come aboard the True North for the ultimate luxury cruise of Western Australia. Enjoy two weeks of lavish indulgence as you visit Kimberley’s iconic sites, from the majestic twin falls of King George Falls to the 20,000-year-old Bradshaw paintings dotting the region.

This 14-day cruise takes you to all the main highlights of Western Australia’s Kimberley region.

Embark on the True North, a luxury cruise vessel that carries a maximum of 36 passengers. The fully-equipped vessel has an upscale bar, lounge, dining room and observation deck, as well as an onboard helicopter. It’s well suited for maximum comfort as you explore the entirety of the Kimberley region.

Cruise up the King George River to see the crown jewel of the Kimberley region, King George Falls. See water pour off the twin falls and drop 80 meters into a deep gorge. King George Falls is considered to be one of the world’s best waterfalls and is only accessible by water or by air, so consider yourself lucky to see it with your own eyes. Fish for the elusive mangrove jack at the Drysdale River before staring into the horizon at Western Australia’s most northerly point at Cape Londonderry.

You’ll be lucky enough to see the Bradshaws, a complex series of rock paintings in the north of the Kimberley region. Dating back at least 20,000 years, the paintings were named after Joseph Bradshaw, a pastoralist who first recorded the paintings in the late nineteenth century. The paintings depict humans in various poses, often equipped with bags and headdresses or involved in rituals. There has been some controversy as to the origins of the paintings, but regardless of who painted them, they remain some of the oldest and most complex cave paintings on the planet.

On the Mitchell River, fish for barramundi and see crocodiles in their natural habitat. Take a helicopter ride over Mitchell Falls and witness the impressive landscape from high above. At the Roe River, fly over Paradise Pool and the maze-like streams below. Later, relax on a private beach on Prince Frederick Harbour.

Visit Hunter River where the water flows off 90-metre high Hunter and Donkin Falls. The surrounding rainforest and waterbeds are great sites for fishing, mud crabbing and bird watching. Head up the Prince Regent River and sail beneath the waterfall of the King Cascades. Raft down the nearby Sale River on an adventurer’s expedition. Then unwind by swimming in your own private billabong.

Head to the Montgomery Reef where the outgoing tide reveals over 140 square miles of coral reef. Sandstone islets and mangrove islands seemingly rise from the depths. Waterfalls cascade across the exposed rock and all manner of turtles, manta rays, birds, reef sharks and dugongs appear to feast on the exposed sea life of the reef.

At Raft Point appreciate the stunning view over Steep Island and examine the point’s Wandjina rock paintings. End your tour at the Horizontal Falls, an anomalous waterfall where the water falls horizontally instead of vertically. Take a helicopter ride to view this great natural phenomenon from a distinct vantage point.

This leisurely cruise through Kimberley will leave you feeling like an expert of the region’s majestic rivers and waterfalls.
