Kimberley Waterfalls Luxury Adventure Cruise

Duration
11 Days
Prices:
On request

Come aboard the True North for a west Australian cruise like no other. Explore the waterfalls of the Kimberley region such as the magnificent King George Falls, examine extraordinary rock art from tens of thousands of years ago, and experience the majestic end of Kimberley’s wet season with its summer storms, spectacular light shows and swollen billabongs.

This 11-day luxury cruise takes you along the stunning rivers and falls of Kimberley in Western Australia.

Embark on the True North, a luxury cruise vessel that carries a maximum of 36 passengers. The fully-equipped vessel has an upscale bar, lounge, dining room and observation deck, as well as an onboard helicopter. It’s well suited for maximum comfort as you explore Kimberley.

The Horizontal Falls are an anomalous waterfall where the water falls horizontally instead of vertically. Take a helicopter ride to view this great natural phenomenon from a distinct vantage point. Then head to Raft Point to appreciate the stunning view over Steep Island and gaze at the point’s Wandjina rock paintings. Nearby Leadline Creek offers different pleasures. Fish for barramundi and photograph the stunning red cliffs that loom over the creek.

At the Montgomery Reef, you’ll witness the outgoing tide reveal over 140 square miles of coral reef. Sandstone islets and mangrove islands seemingly rise from the depths. Waterfalls cascade across the exposed rock and all manner of turtles, manta rays, birds, reef sharks and dugongs appear to feast on the exposed sea life of the reef. From the Montgomery Reef, head up the Prince Regent River and sail beneath the waterfall of the King Cascades.

Visit Hunter River where the waters flow off 90-metre high Hunter and Donkin Falls. The surrounding rainforest and waterbeds are great sites for fishing, mud crabbing and bird watching. Later, relax on a private beach on Prince Frederick Harbour. On the Mitchell River, fish for barramundi and see crocodiles in their natural habitat. Take a helicopter ride over Mitchell Falls and witness the impressive landscape from high above.

You’ll be lucky enough to see the Bradshaws, a complex series of rock paintings in the north of the Kimberley region. Dating back at least 20,000 years, the paintings were named after Joseph Bradshaw, a pastoralist who first recorded the paintings in the late nineteenth century. The paintings depict humans in various poses, often equipped with bags and headdresses or involved in rituals. There has been some controversy as to the origins of the paintings, but regardless of who painted them, they remain some of the oldest and most complex cave paintings on the planet.

Cruse up the King George River to see the crown jewel of the Kimberley region, King George Falls. See water pour off the twin falls and drop 80 meters into a deep gorge. King George Falls is considered to be one of the world’s best waterfalls and is only accessible by water or by air, so consider yourself lucky to see it with your own eyes.

This luxurious cruise through the heart of the Kimberley region will leave you awestruck at Western Australia’s natural beauty.
