Launceston: Freycinet Escape: Premier Escorted Vacation

Duration
6 Days
Prices From:
US$ 2,496

Enjoy a compact 6-day escape to Tasmania to savour its breathtaking landscapes, historic townships, and celebrated wine regions. Venturing from Launceston to Hobart and through Freycinet National Park, you’ll experience a taste of this little patch of Australia that’s overflowing with beauty.

This 6-day Australian vacation takes you across Tasmania from Launceston to Hobart. It features first-class accommodations, escorted coach tours, and is a great introduction to Tasmania.

Your journey begins in Launceston, on the edge of Cataract Gorge and gateway to the vineyards of the northeast. An afternoon guided tour will showcase one of the island’s most celebrated wineries, Josef Chromy, and let you sample wine while learning about the winemaking process. Alternatively, head to Seahorse World or Platypus House to see some of Australia’s most adorable animals or travel back in time at the Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre. From Launceston, venture into the wine region of Northern Tasmania, stopping off at Bridestowe Lavender Estate for a distillery tour. Continue to East Coast Natureworld where you’ll meet the adorable and feisty Tasmanian Devil.

Connect into Freycinet National Park and head on a guided tour of Cape Tourville to see the lighthouse and admire views along the rugged coastline. That evening, feast on delicious BBQ overlooking Coles Bay. From Freycinet, head southeast to Hobart, the capital of Tasmania and the second-oldest capital in Australia. You’ll have a day at leisure in Hobart to explore its many attractions, from the cheeky Museum of Old and New Art to a beer and wine tour of the old town to a historical guided walking tour of colonial districts. The next day, delve into a dark corner of Australian history with a tour of Port Arthur Historic Site, home of the infamous convict prison. Visit the sandstone penitentiary and the convict church as you learn about Australia’s history as a penal colony before cruising past Tasman Arch on the way back to Hobart. On your final morning, get your shopping in at the Salamanca Market before heading to the airport to connect back home.

Consider extending your stay in Australia to see all that the land Downunder has to offer.
