Milford Wanderer Overnight Cruise

Duration
2 Days
Prices From:
US$ 389

Join our nature guide and friendly crew for a full length cruise of Milford Sound. Keep a lookout for wildlife, especially fur seals basking on the rocks. There is plenty of time for you to go exploring in the kayaks and tender craft and relax on deck.

The Milford Wanderer offers a unique dinner, bed and breakfast experience.

Designed along the lines of a traditional New Zealand coastal trading scow to reflect Fiordland’s heritage, the vessel has been purpose built to accommodate passengers in comfortable twin-share cabins with shared bathroom facilities. It has a cosy dining saloon and open deck areas for viewing the scenery of Milford Sound. Departing from the Milford Wharf, the Milford Wanderer cruises the full length of Milford Sound to the Tasman Sea.

An onboard nature guide with specialist knowledge of the region’s history, flora and fauna provides detailed interpretation in English with a roving microphone. There is plenty of time available to explore points of interest and view the spectacular alpine scenery including waterfalls, rainforest and the towering peaks; and keep a lookout for wildlife including seals, dolphins and penguins when in season. After reaching the open sea, the sails may be hoisted subject to weather and conditions. The vessel then returns to the fiord and anchors overnight in sheltered Harrison Cove.  Activities include kayaking and exploring the shoreline by tender craft. The overnight cruise includes a three-course evening meal and beverages are available for purchase at the licensed onboard bar.

The next morning following a cooked or continental breakfast, there is further cruising before returning to the Milford Wharf.

Suitable for most ages, except infants. Not suitable for wheelchair passengers due to steep stairs.
