Enjoy a wonderful 2 day overland tour from Christchurch to Queenstown and marvel at the beautiful and striking scenery en route. Stop overnight in the Mount Cook National Park and sleep under the shadow of New Zealand’s highest mountain.


Departing from Christchurch, you travel through lush undulating farmland eventually arriving at Lake Tekapo, a remarkable turquoise coloured lake fed by glaciers from the surrounding Southern Alps. Take in the solitary Church of the Good Shepherd and continue through dramatic mountain scenery to the Mount Cook National Park where you will overnight.

The following day, travel south past Lake Pukaki which has to be seen to be appreciated for its natural beauty with its mesmerizing blue coloured water. Continuing on to Queenstown, you will enjoy afternoon tea in the quaint village of Omarama also visiting a family orchard. On arrival in Queenstown, your exciting journey comes to a close.

Itinerary

Day 1

Christchurch to Mount Cook

Depart Christchurch in the morning and travel through diverse farmland to Lake Tekapo, a stunning glacial fed lake, where you can view the solitary Church of the Good Shepherd. Leaving Tekapo, continue towards Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, home to New Zealand's tallest mountain. The tour concludes on arrival at Aoraki/Mt Cook.

Day 2

Mount Cook to Queenstown

Leaving Aoraki/Mount Cook travel south past Lake Pukaki and through the tawny tussock of the Mackenzie Country. En-route, enjoy afternoon tea (own expense) in the quaint village of Omarama and visit the Jones Family Orchard (time permitting) near Cromwell. Your tour concludes in the evening upon reaching Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand.
