This driving vacation offers plenty of opportunity to get out and about in Queensland’s natural beauty. Drive to and walk through Lockyer Valley, Lamington National Park and Fraser Island.
South East Queensland is famous for its popular beaches, theme parks and tourist attractions. It’s also home to some of Australia’s most diverse wilderness areas. These are yours to explore on this 6 day self drive tour, which includes a full day at Fraser Island.
Just west of Brisbane, the Lockyer Valley forms the heart of South East Queensland’s farm country, producing a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. A short drive south takes you to the border of New South Wales, where Lamington National Park contains some of Australia’s most spectacular ranges and bushwalks. It is also home to over 500 waterfalls.
Leave the car in Harvey Bay for your journey to Fraser Island. The traditional Aboriginal owners of the land called it K’gari, meaning paradise. And that it is. You’ll enjoy walking tracks, relaxing beaches, and a guided 4WD tour. Keep your camera ready, as over 230 species of birds and 25 species of mammals call this place home.
