This highly flexible 12 day round trip lets you experience New Zealand’s North Island at your own pace, focusing on natural wonders in one of the world’s most dramatic landscapes.

Depart for Coromandel Peninsula. This is a favourite getaway spot for Aucklanders, offering miles of sandy beach including famous Hot Water Beach, where you can dig your own thermal spa in the sand. Continue along the spectacular coast to Tauranga and Whakatane, where pristine beaches meet historic Maori sites. You might even have the opportunity to swim with dolphins.

The East Coast is your next stop, where you can enjoy the Hawke’s Bay Wine Country, along with picturesque Napier and Hastings, where an abundance of Art Deco and Spanish Mission architecture is yours to explore. Stop in at beautiful LakeTaupo on your way to Rotorua, a spectacular geothermal laboratory of steaming geysers and bubbling mud pools. Whakatane at leisure

Whakatane is one of the sunniest towns in New Zealand. Just offshore is White Island, a spectacular active volcano that can be visited by launch or helicopter. Other Whakatane attractions include the museum, an observatory and Maori historical sites. In summer, dolphin swimming is the thing to do.
