Outback and Indigenous Adventure

Duration
15 Days
Prices From:
US$ 4,489

This extensive itinerary highlights the beauty of the Northern Territory - both the Red Centre and the Top End, with stays in Melbourne and Sydney as well to give you a taste of the Aussie big city.

This 15-day, air-inclusive Australia trip is all about getting to the heart of the famous outback, exploring its spectacular geography, and its spiritual connection to the indigenous people who’ve lived here for thousands of years.

Start in Melbourne, the cultural, culinary, fashion, and sporting capital of Australia. A day trip takes you to Phillip Island to see the famed little penguin parade. You’ll drive by a few of Melbourne’s highlights en route, and visit the Koala Conservation Centre on Churchill Island. Your second day in Melbourne leaves you at leisure to explore as you will. Perhaps visit the Old Melbourne Gaol, take a cruise on the Yarra, pause for reflection at the Shrine of Remembrance, or if you’re feeling ambitious, embark on a day trip along the Great Ocean Road to the Twelve Apostles.

Qantas

Ayers Rock is your gateway to Uluru and Kata Tjuta, two awesome rock formations that have inspired Aboriginal legends for millennia. The area is dotted with sacred sights, which you’ll learn about on a guided drive around the base of Uluru. You’ll then go on to see Aboriginal rock paintings, and learn more about the history of the area both from an indigenous and European point of view. Then watch the rock’s colours change as sunset sweeps over the desert. The following day, visit Kata Tjuta, the mysterious collection of rock domes said to be the eggs of the fabled Rainbow Serpent. Then go on to King’s Canyon where you’ll spend the night, allowing plenty of time to explore with a guided tour around the rim.

Flying from Alice Springs, arrive in Darwin, the true ‘top end’ of Australia. This is Melbourne Victoriathe start of your 4WD Safari through Kakadu National Park, one of Australia’s great wilderness regions with over 40,000 years of Aboriginal history. You’ll learn a little about this, in between exploring sights such as the Yellow Waters. Keep an eye out for crocodiles, and take in the spectacular waterfalls as you explore this remote and beautiful ecosystem. You’ll have opportunities to hike, swim, and explore hidden corners of the park before returning to Darwin and flying on.

Northern Territory

Your final full day in Australia is spent exploring Sydney, with a sightseeing tour taking you through the historic Rocks district, to the Sydney Opera House, Darling Harbour, and Bondi Beach. Transfer to Sydney Airport for your departing flight.
