This 14-day Queensland adventure includes flights from North America and invites you to get up close and personal with some of Australia’s most colourful marine life including friendly dolphins.
Begin on the fabulous Gold Coast for a full day at leisure. Shake off any jetlag, relax on the beach, enjoy some of the world’s best surf beaches, go shopping, feed the lorikeets at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, or brave the thrill rides at one of Australia’s top theme parks. Then return to Brisbane and meet your ferry to transfer to Tangalooma Island Resort. With two nights here, there’s lots to do including snorkelling over shipwrecks or quad biking through the dunes. Tangalooma’s biggest draw however is its friendly colony of bottlenose dolphins, who swim to shore each night to snatch fresh fish from the hands of visitors. Your hosts will show you how to handle the fish and safely feed these incredible animals.
Think Brisbane is just a ‘gateway’ city to Queensland? Think again. The River City has come up in the world in recent decades. Visit the world’s first koala sanctuary, Lone Pine, one of the few places in the world you can hold a koala (and have your photo taken doing so). Immerse yourself in history, culture, and all things creative in the museum district of the city’s South Bank, then follow the river, exploring the South Bank parklands. If time allows, head out to Mount Coot-tha for spectacular views and the chance to explore Brisbane’s Botanical Gardens. Your time here is entirely at leisure, so explore the sides of Brisbane that most interest you.
Slow things down on Southeast Queensland’s more relaxed coast. Settle into beautiful Noosa for two nights and enjoy the white sand beaches, plentiful trails, waterways, and picturesque hinterland towns. Then catch your flight to Cairns for your date with one of the world’s ultimate natural wonders, the Great Barrier Reef. Stay in beautiful Port Douglas, where you’ll depart on your reef cruise. Swim, snorkel, dive if you’re certified, or stay dry exploring the reef via semi-submersible sub. Not all of North Queensland’s treasures are offshore, either! Your last full day in Australia takes you to the Daintree, the world’s oldest living rainforest, and beautiful Cape Tribulation.
