Red Centre Self Drive

Duration
4 Days
Prices From:
US$ 489

Drive the Red Centre and explore the best the region has to offer. Travel through Alice Springs to Kings Canyon before arriving at Uluru/Ayers Rock, the world’s biggest monolith.

See the outback your way on this 4 day self-drive journey from Alice Springs to Ayers Rock.

Your first stop is Kings Canyon, home to a variety of walks and breathtaking 100m cliffs. Tackle the challenging climb that begins a spectacular walk along the rim, or follow the Kings Creek trail for a more relaxed, but still picturesque take on the Canyon.

Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas, is said to be the sacred home of the great snake king Wanambi. See these 36 iconic domes up close with the option of a 4-5 hour walk through the Valley of the Winds. Or just enjoy the sweeping views from Olga Gorge. Then continue on to Uluru to watch as the setting sun sets ablaze the colours of the world’s largest monolith.

Day 3

Kings Canyon to Ayers Rock

In this region of the Northern Territory, you will be inspired by some of Australia's most significant natural attractions, the most famous of all being Ayers Rock/Uluru. West of Ayers Rock Resort is Mt Olga, a collection of weathered red domes, the tallest of which stands 200 metres taller than Ayers Rock. At sunset, the Olgas hold their own light show to rival the Rock's - both inspiring, but individually unique. For experienced walkers, the Olgas offer a four to five hour walk through the poetically named Valley of the Winds. For an easier walk with great views taking only an hour or so, go to Olga Gorge (Tatintjawiya).
