The majestic Southern Ocean has blessed Victoria with one of the most rugged and spectacular coastlines in Australia. This 5 day self-drive adventure takes you to all the key sights, before heading inland to the Grampians and the historic gold rush town of Ballarat.
You’ll stop at the rising holiday town of Apollo Bay, right at the doorstep of Otway National Park, then continue on to Port Campbell National Park before turning inland. At the Grampians, you can enjoy stunning mountain views, invigorating walks through native forest, and some of the state’s fascinating Aboriginal heritage. In Ballarat, visit Sovereign Hill, a detailed recreation of this gold rush town as it appeared in the 1860’s. After dinner, learn more about the infamous Eureka Rebellion in a spectacular sound-and-light show. Return to Melbourne and consider taking an extra day or two to enjoy this vibrant, multicultural city.

Melbourne to Apollo Bay (Approx. 185 kms/115 miles - 2.5 hours)
Arrive in Melbourne and collect your rental vehicle, drive through Geelong and on to Torquay. This is where the Great Ocean Road begins its journey westward.
Continue on to Apollo Bay with its wide crescent shaped sandy beach, rolling green Otway hills and laid back lifestyle.

Apollo Bay to Port Fairy (Approx. 190 kms/118 miles - 2.5 hours)
Depart Apollo Bay and continue along the Great Ocean Road that travels through the Otway National Park.
The Great Ocean Road leaves the Otways at Princetown and hugs the rugged coast through to the Port Campbell National Park. On your way to Port Fairy visit the quaint town of Koroit, where Irish immigrant farmers originally settled. The unique fishing village of Port Fairy is one of Victoria's earliest ports and many homes and other buildings of last century have been preserved.
