Explore the wonders of the South Island on this journey from Christchurch to Queenstown. On this New Zealand vacation for 18 to 39 year olds, you’ll hike the frozen landscape of Fox Glacier, experience action packed adventure in Queenstown, and marvel at the natural beauty of Milford Sound and Mitre Peak.
This 7-day New Zealand vacation takes you through the wondrous landscapes of the South Island and is specifically-designed for 18 to 39 year olds.
Your New Zealand tour begins in Christchurch, the Garden City of New Zealand. Head west and pass through the pastoral Canterbury Plains until green turns to white and you enter the realm of the Southern Alps. Explore the glacial stretches of Fox Glacier, hiking to the summit and venturing across a frozen world of ice caves and snow formations. Continue through the mountain range and head for Queenstown, the Adventure Capital of the World. Get your adrenaline rush in this picturesque city on the banks of Lake Wakatipu. Bungie jump off a bridge, jet-ski across the lake, or jump out of an airplane to experience the ultimate rush.
After spending a couple days satisfying your inner daredevil, take a day trip to Milford Sound, the stunning fjord carved by glaciers over millions of years. Explore the fjord and take full advantage of the photo opportunities here, capturing some Instagram pics of Mitre Peak, the most-photographed sight in the country and often-considered the Eighth Wonder of the World. On the final leg of your journey, pass into the gorgeous countryside around Lake Ohau. Try some Central Otago pinot noir in Arrowtown before passing through the farmland in the shadow of Aoraki/Mt. Cook, where sheep outnumber humans 12:1. Return to Christchurch to end your journey.
This New Zealand vacation makes for a great add-on to a longer exploration of the country.

Christchurch to Fox Glacier
The Canterbury Plains make for pretty window views today - but we'll be in mountain territory in no time! We'll make a pit stop by the stunning Lake Matheson en route to Fox Glacier. Fingers crossed for good weather so you can see New Zealand's two tallest mountain peaks reflected in the mirror-like lake.
Fox Glacier to Queenstown
Hit up NZ's most famous glacier with an optional guided terminal face walk or heli-hike. Then, we'll journey past Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea as we roll into Queenstown. Get your bearings on an orientation tour, then be free! The nightlife here is unreal. Trust us.
Queenstown has sooo many adrenalin-fuelled activities to try. Question is, how many can you fit into your time here? You could try bungy jumping, a canyon swing, skydiving, hiking or the skyline gondola. Hungry after all of that adventuring? Don't miss Fergburger, Queenstown's famous burger joint. The queues are worth it.
Queenstown including Milford Sound
It's time for the main event! We're headed to the unbelievable beauty of New Zealand's southwestern fjords for a cruise through Milford Sound. This place comes complete with thundering waterfalls and towering cliffs that'll blow your mind. Keep your eyes peeled for the resident seals and dolphins too (cute).

Our hot tip for your last day here? Sign up for a jet boat ride or some rafting (both optional). For dinner, why not try the yummy pizzas at Winnie's before a final night out on the town? Let's go!
Queenstown to Lake Ohau via Arrowtown
Hop on a bike and ride past mountains, lakes and rivers in Arrowtown on the most spectacular ride on the Queenstown trail. Crossing the 80 m suspension bridge, get ready for open farmland and stunning views.

Lake Ohau to Christchruch via Morelea Farm
It may be our last day, but there's still plenty of time to squeeze in a visit to a real working farm. We'll tuck into afternoon tea with the owners before moving on to Christchurch to say our goodbyes.
