Enjoy three icons of Downunder on this unforgettable Australian vacation. Catch your first glimpse of Sydney Harbour Bridge from the air before diving in to explore the Harbour City, then be awed by two of Australia’s most famous natural stars, Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef.
This 12-day Australian vacation is the ideal trip for ticking off several Aussie bucket list items, including the sights of Sydney, Uluru/Ayers Rock, and the Great Barrier Reef. It includes moderate, first-class, or deluxe accommodations depending on preference, shared tours, and international airfare.
After crossing the Pacific, you’ll have two nights in Sydney to see the wonders of Australia’s most popular city. Your itinerary offers you leisure time to explore the city on your own, with an ever-handy iVenture Card giving you access to five of the city’s prime attractions, including the Sydney Opera House, Sea Life Sydney Aquarium, and the Taronga Zoo. You can also opt for a tour if you want more structure, such as a Sydney Harbour Cruise or a walking tour of The Rocks, the city’s oldest neighbourhood.
Fly to Uluru/Ayers Rock and bask in the magnificence of Australia’s greatest icon, the sandstone monolith that has been a sacred site to the Anangu people for thousands of years. Your first day in the Red Centre ends with a Sounds of Silence dinner, an unforgettable desert experience that combines a delicious meal with the image of Uluru at sunset. On your second day, head into the desert for a Field of Light tour that’ll showcase Uluru and Kata Tjuta/The Olgas, its sister formation, at sunrise. Learn about this incredible landscape and enjoy views you’ll remember for a lifetime.
Continue on to Kings Canyon, one of the other icons of the Northern Territory. Venture through the Outback landscape of desert and cattle stations and wind your way through the canyon for beautiful views. Reach Alice Springs, the quintessential Outback town, where learn all about this quirky desert community on A Town Like Alice tour. In addition to learning about the Flying Doctor service and the town’s historical importance as a telegraph station, you’ll also see fascinating reptiles of the Red Centre at the Alice Springs Reptile Centre.
Finally, fly to Cairns in tropical North Queensland. The Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is a small city offering a warm welcome. Venture out on a cruise to the Outer Reef and have the option of snorkelling or riding in a glass bottom boat for the best views of the coral gardens and the world beneath the waves. After exploring the reef, you’ll have one final night in town before connecting back home via Sydney or Brisbane.
Consider extending your stay in Australia if you have the time. There’s always more to see in the world Downunder.
