Tetiaroa: The Brando
- On request
The Brando is a new eco-luxury resort dedicated to realising visitors’ South Pacific dreams with surroundings and facilities fit for a Hollywood royalty. As the name suggests, Tetiaroa was once privately owned by Marlon Brando.
During the 1960 filming of Mutiny on the Bounty, Marlin Brando fell in love with Tetiaroa. He purchased it in 1966-67. Today, The Brando Resort is dedicated to preserving everything that charmed the star in the first place.
All the great Tahiti clichés are present and accounted for, from brilliant azure lagoons to lush forests on shore, all sweetened by the gentle breezes and unhurried culture of the South Pacific. Yet The Brando remains committed to preserving these elements through cutting-dge, eco-friendly innovations. Air conditioning throughout the resort is powered by the natural chill of deep ocean salt water. Solar power is collected via panels along the resort’s airstrip, while any additional power needs are met by a coconut oil (biofuel) power station. In fact, The Brando is one of the world’s few resorts where you can enjoy an entirely carbon-neutral stay.
The Brando claims another first in Tahiti, being the archipelago’s first All Inclusive resort. Stay in a one, two, or three bedroom villa, enjoying exquisite, Polynesian-inspired cuisine from one of the resort’s two restaurants.
Those who love their water sports have not been forgotten. Diving, snorkelling and paddle boarding are all popular pursuits. Share your afternoon with rays, sea turtles and reef sharks among others. You can even explore in a Polynesian outrigger canoe. The Brando’s gym is fully equipped to meet your fitness needs. If you’d prefer something a little closer to home, take to the tennis court or hop a bike to explore the hinterland. Expert naturalists can even take you to meet some of the atoll’s bird and reef life, as well as turtles (in season).

The Brando is a unique luxury resort on French Polynesia's breathtakingly beautiful atoll of Tetiaroa, the former playground of Tahitian kings. Tetiaroa is composed of 12 motus (small islands) surrounding a spectacular three-mile wide lagoon. The entire atoll is encircled by a vibrant coral reef that abounds with sea life. Access to the island is by private plane operated by Air Tetiaroa. The 20-minute plane flight from Tahiti provides an awe-inspiring introduction to the island. Marlon Brando fell in love with the Tetiaroa when filming Mutiny on the Bounty, and it was his retreat for over three decades. The Brando resort was inspired by Marlon Brando's original vision to create a venture of sustainable development that resonates with visitors and fosters opportunities to get to know both the place and people of French Polynesia.
