Day 1

Cusco to Inca Trail to Aguas Calientes

From Cusco you will be driven into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. From here you will board the train that leads to Machu Picchu but you will hop off at the kilometer 104 marker, in the Urubamba Valley, to begin your day of trekking. This is a good option for visitors with limited time or who are not fit enough to complete the full 5 day version. The trek has the advantage of allowing you to visit the beautiful ruins at Winay Wayna and also to experience at least part of the Inca trail.

You will cover a moderate 13 kilometer (6 - 7 hours) Inca Trail with a little up, a little flat and some downhill portions, connecting the Classic 5 Day Trail at the impressive archaeological site of Winya Wayna. Only Inca Trail hikers get to enjoy these ruins! From Winay Wayna the trek then descends to Machu Picchu.

You will then continue the hike all the way to Machu Picchu where you will observe the famous view from the Sungate 'Inti Punku'. Spend overnight in Aguas Calientes.
