Expand your Ecuador tour with a few days in one of the country’s most exciting regions. Banos and Antisana are known not just for their natural Andean beauty, but for the range of adventure activities on offer.

This 4-day Ecuador extension takes you from Quito to a Hacienda high in the Andes at Antisana, where you can spot Andean Condors and many other native birds, cross rivers of petrified lava, and explore the lakes of this mountainous region before going on to Banos.

Your route to Banos takes one of two paths. On reaching Banos, your time is at leisure to explore the many adventure options of this popular town. Day 1

Quito to Antisana

Depart this morning to Antisana. The Antisana volcano is the fourth highest mountain in the Ecuadorian Andes, its massive glaciers feed water to lakes and rivers of this reserve, which sustain the abundant wildlife of the region. Fifty percent of the Andean Condors that live in Ecuador have chosen Antisana as their home, as well as many other species of highland birds. We will spend the day in a nice hacienda located in this area, one of the main objectives of their owners is to protect and conserve in a sustainable way the fragility of this environment. The hacienda is limited by a rocky wall: Farallones del Isco, which constitutes one of the preferred nesting sites and habitat of Andean Condors, so there are plenty of possibilities to see them flying around the area.
