Cruising Galapagos: M/Y Alya

4-8 Days
Prices From:
US$ 3,782

Venture through the biodiverse world of the Galapagos Islands to see soaring frigate birds, lumbering tortoises, and frolicking sea lions. Travelling aboard a luxury yacht, you’ll enjoy world-class comforts and amenities as you head throughout the islands, exploring their volcanic landscapes and spotting their abundant wildlife.

Explore nature’s ultimate natural laboratory, the Galapagos Island on one of these 4, 5, or 8-day cruises aboard the M/Y Alya. Beautifully appointed with just 9 passenger cabins, the Alya takes you to see the animals up close with only a small group of fellow nature lovers alongside you. Spend your days seeing the wonders of evolution on these naturally protected islands, then spend your nights learning more about your discoveries and making new friends aboard ship.

The 8-day itinerary is the most comprehensive way to see the Galapagos Islands, and the M/Y Alya offers two to choose from. Itinerary A, along with the 4-day itinerary, begins at San Cristobal, where you will see the sea lions of Isla Lobos. It then goes on to Witch Hill, which offers one of the loveliest beaches in the islands, and Pitt Point, a bird-watcher’s haven where a variety of boobies and other species co-exist. Suarez Point is another great birding spot, before visiting the playful sea lions of Gardner Bay. Then go onto North Seymour Island, home to thousands of land iguanas. 4-day passengers leave the cruise here.

North Seymour Island is the joining point for passengers embarking on the 5-day cruise. Darwin Bay on Genovesa is a prime birding spot with a wide variety of species to see. See the young volcanic formations of Santiago and Bartolome before spending a full day on Santa Cruz, which is home to a dazzling variety of wildlife. Pay a visit to Charles Darwin Station to learn about efforts to repopulate the giant tortoise population before your flight home.

Itinerary B begins on Santa Cruz, going on to Isabela Island, home to more beautiful volcanic formations and mangrove forests. Visit the exposed reefs of Uribina Bay and see the hawks and iguanas of Fernandina. Uncover the pirate history of Tagus Cove and the rock formations of Vicente Roca Point. Next stop is Santiago island, home to one of the largest flamingo colonies in the Galapagos, then it’s on to Rabida and the Chinese Hat, both of which embody the geological history of these islands. The itinerary’s last full day takes you to visit the sea turtle breeding grounds at Las Bachas, and the small island of South Plazas, which is nonetheless packed with wildlife. Disembark at the Interpretation Centre on San Cristobal before meeting your onward flight.

Day 2

Witch Hill and Pitt Point

We will visit Witch Hill (Cerro Brujo) in the morning where you will explore one of the nicest beaches in the Galápagos. You'll be tantalized by the texture and sight of the powdered, soft, white sand. With a colony of sea lions and Blue-footed Boobies, this scenic place is bustling with life. Just beyond the beach is a lagoon, thriving with Egrets and Great Blue Herons. The turquoise water and abundant marine life will invite you to snorkel their midst.

Pitt Point: Pitt point on San Cristobal is on the easternmost side of the Galapagos Islands. It's also one of the only places that red-footed boobies, blue-footed boobies, and Nazca's can be found all at the same place. The visitor site is interested as the formations of old volcanic rock are profoundly unique and the hike to the top of the site provides incredible views of the surrounding area.

Day 3

Suarez Point to Gardner Bay

Suarez Point: This is a phenomenal site where you will get to see many of Espanola Island's endemic species. The trail will pass by the only Waved Albatross breeding site. If you are lucky you might see a young albatross take off for its first flight for up to five years at sea. Older birds stay at sea for months at a time, only coming back to breed. They have the same mate for life and will meet each other each year, only here to reproduce. Other species that can be seen are marine iguanas that stay brightly colored year around, Galapagos doves, Nazca boobies, blue-footed boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, red-billed tropic birds, and Darwin finches.

Gardner Bay: Visit one of the best beaches in the Galapagos. The white sandy beach is home to a large colony of friendly and playful sea lions. Three different types of finches can be seen. The Espanola Mockingbird is very friendly, but probably looking for food. At one point in time, tourists must have given it water or food, which taught them bad habits. The site is also where green sea turtles will come to nest their eggs between January and March.

Day 4

Santa Cruz Highlands - Departure

Highlands: The Highlands of Santa Cruz is a very interesting site due to the rich wildlife, hills, ferns, volcanoes and lava tubes present. Exploring the lava tubes is a surreal and unique experience. Here you can see all the different agricultural zones that are present in the Galapagos in one place. The variety of birds makes this a bird watchers delight.

Transfer to Baltra Airport. Your cruise has officially come to an end. We hope you enjoyed your Galapagos Cruise! We will now transfer you to your scheduled departure from Baltra Airport to mainland Ecuador. Safe travels!
