Peru is world famous for its food. There is no better way of immersing yourself into this world than taking a dedicated culinary tour around Lima. The tour starts at a local roastery, Tostaduria Bisetti, where the organic, daily hand-pick the coffee beans, make for a great morning wake up drink before touring the colonial streets of the bohemian district of Barranco, home to artists, musicians and the city's top art galleries. Here you will sample an exotic fruit smoothie made from Lucuma - a peruvian fruit that's an ingredient in many health foods and supplement - at the garden cafe, La Bodega Verde. From here you visit a traditional market in the San Isidro district of Lima; one of the more upscale districts that comprise the city of Lima, to try exotic fruits and local products and learn of ancient myths and legends associated with them. The next stop is to one of the city's top seafood restaurants (cevicheria), Embarcadero 41 Fusion, on Avenida La Mar in the Miraflores district - a stop most other tours to Lima won't take. Here youdiscover the secrets to the making of the perfect Ceviche and and Peru's national drink, the Pisco Sour. It's a hands on experiences as you prepare the dish and cocktail yourself with the head chef and bartender. After sampling both your Pisco Sour and Ceviche, your next stop is for a full meal at la Huaca Pucllana Restaurant. Located within a pre-Incan archeological complex - undoubtedly a highlight for anyone visiting Lima, this prestigious restaurant is so impressive that the likes of the King of Spain, Mick Jagger, Bill and Hillary Clinton - just to name a few - have dined here. Enjoy a variety of gourmet Peruvian dishes as well as four different desserts and another pisco-based cocktail before heading back to your hotel both visual and gastromically satisified and full.
