Palo Verde National Park is located at the mouth of the Tempisque River, Guanacaste province's most important waterway. The park acts as a watershed for all major rivers of the area and is a unique wetland haven located in the middle of Costa Rica's driest region. The protected 112432ha/45500acres of the park boast 15 different habitats: pastures, mangrove swamps, salt ponds, grassy savannahs, evergreen forest, and marshes, just to name a few. The park is considered a resident and migratory waterfowl refuge. After travelling to the park, you will enjoy a 2.5 hour boat ride along the Tempisque River, the most important river in Guanacaste province. From your vessel, you will be able to spot a fabulous array of wild birds and a myriad of creatures, such as howler monkeys, green iguanas, coatis, anteaters, and crocodiles. This is a great tour for those who love nature and bird watching.
