Peruvian Landscapes

Duration
7 Days
Prices From:
US$ 1,503

The former Inca Capital and Spanish colonial city of Cusco is our base for this great expedition, letting a city rich with culture, history, good restaurants, and active nightlife take centre stage your Peru vacation.

This 7-day Peru vacation focuses on the ancient Inca capital of Cusco, exploring the Sacred Valley and the fabled lost city of Machu Picchu in detail.

One of the world's best travel bargains, Cusco is rich on culture and history, as you'll discover on a half-day tour, once you've acclimatised to the altitude. From Cusco, travel through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Here, you'll visit Pisac Market, an ideal place to purchase an authentic souvenir or two, and a photographer's dream. Visit Inca Fortress town of Ollantaytambo, before going on to famous Machu Picchu.

Plenty of mystery still shrouds the lost city of the Incas, but your guide will shed some light on what we do know as you explore the world's most famous mountaintop citadel. Enjoy time to explore on your own, or pre-book (essential) a climb up Huyana Picchu for an alternative view. Return to Cusco for one more night.

We return to Lima for a Colonial and Contemporary city tour, which includes stops at the most important architectural icons of the city. Too often forgotten, or dismissed as just a big, chaotic capital, Lima deserves a day or two on any Peru vacation, offering enchanting neighbourhoods such as Miraflores, home to the famous 'Love Park.'

Day 3

Authentic Sacred Valley Visit

Discover the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas through this route starting on the Inca's Balcony, in Chinchero, a beautiful place with an impressive view, where twelves families still preserve their traditional costums, showing you the ancestral way in which they process the wool, and obtain those vivid colors for their textiles. Later, you will arrive to Moray, an impressing pre-Inca greenhouse, then, you will have lunch in a local restaurant. Afterwards, you will get to Ollantaytambo, one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire, one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors lost a major battle. Very well known for its ''andenes'' (terraces dug into the slopes of mountains for agricultural purposes), Ollantaytambo was a highly effective fortress, that also served as a temple. Then, you will follow to the town of Ollantaytambo, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th century.
