Day 2

HD Pisac Market / Pisac Ruins

Excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas surrounded by the Urubamba River. Visit the Pisac Indian market and the town where local craftspeople offer products made out of alpaca wool, silversmithing and ceramics.

Towering above the town of the same name are the Inca ruins that feature all types of Incan architecture - agricultural, hydraulic, military, residential and religious. Enjoy a short tour of the ruins.

Duration4 Hours
Day 3

Moray and Maras Salt Pools

Today you pass through unspoiled and picturesque Andean communities on our way to the Incan agricultural experimental center of Moray, famous for its sunken amphitheatre, made up of four circular terraces, which appear to fade away into the earth like an artificial crater. The site was apparently an Inca agricultural research station filled with fertile earth and watered by a complex irrigation system, designed for experimenting with crops at various altitudes.

Continue onto the impressive Maras salt pools formed by water emerging from a lake inside the mountain in the Urubamba Valley. An amazing view is offered of the evaporating ponds used for the extraction of salt. Learn about ancestral techniques, which are still used, in agricultural, irrigation and salt-recollection tasks, as well as in Andean festivals and rites.

Duration4 Hours
Day 4

Chincheros with Weaving Demonstration and Ollantaytambo Fortress with Lunch

Visit the locals in the Andean village of Chincheros where you will be treated to a demonstration of their traditional weaving methods. Continue on to Ollantaytambo.

It was an important administrative center with probable military functions if one considers the walls and towers. There are also traces of ancient roads and aqueducts. The town of Ollantaytambo is called a "Living Inca Town" since the inhabitants maintain ancient practices and customs with the town itself being a living museum of Inca construction, irrigation and housing.
