MODERATE | TAILOR-MADE: Located on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, Tortuguero National Park has a wide diversity of plant and animal life, perhaps most famously, it's turtles. The park features eleven different habitats, including rainforest, mangrove forests, swamps, beaches, and lagoons.
This 4-day Costa Rica getaway can be taken as a round trip short escape from San Jose, or as part of a longer Costa Rica vacation, as it focuses on Tortuguero National Park.
Transfer from San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, to Tortuguero National Park. The journey takes you to banana plantations, and through tropical rainforests rich with colourful flowers. Upon arriving at Tortuguero, visit the Turtle Museum. Of course, the main attraction here is the park itself. The following day, you’ll take a boat tour through the canals, seeing not just the namesake turtles, but the wide variety of animals, birds, flowers, and other plan species that dot the park. Your lodge has private trails for you to explore at your leisure. A butterfly garden, and botanical gardens are both within easy reach.

San Jose to Tortuguero National Park
Pick up in the San Jose Metropolitan Area at the hotel. Breakfast at Grupo Mawamba's Rio Danta Restaurant located in Guapiles. After breakfast, continue to Cano Blanco dock, passing banana plantations along the way. Arrive and check in to your hotel in the early afternoon and enjoy lunch at the pool restaurant.
After lunch you will have the opportunity to visit the Village of Tortuguero along with your guide. After the visit and some free time, you will return back to the Lodge walking by the trail on the beach directly to the Lodge (weather permitting).
You will have dinner at a local restaurant and spend the remainder of your evening at leisure.

Tortuguero National Park
Begin today with a morning tour to admire the awakening of the wildlife of Tortuguero. This tour introduces visitors to the rich rainforest and its great array of wildlife. Return for breakfast. Following breakfast, visit the Mawamba Park that includes a butterfly farm, frog farm, iguana farm, bio-digestor and gardens. This visit is combined with a walk in the trails at the Lodge.
Have lunch at the pool restaurant.
In the afternoon, take a boat tour to a different canal than the one visited in the morning.
Return to the lodge for dinner and an optional night walk on a private trail.

Depart Tortuguero National Park
After breakfast, you will depart for Cano Blanco to board your bus transfer back from the canals. Stop en route for lunch at Tropical Restaurant in Guapiles, and then continue on to San Jose or connect with a transfer to your next destination.
