MODERATE | TAILOR-MADE: Located on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, Tortuguero National Park has a wide diversity of plant and animal life, perhaps most famously, it's turtles. The park features eleven different habitats, including rainforest, mangrove forests, swamps, beaches, and lagoons.
This 4-day Costa Rica getaway can be taken as a round trip short escape from San Jose, or as part of a longer Costa Rica vacation, as it focuses on Tortuguero National Park.
Transfer from San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, to Tortuguero National Park. The journey takes you to banana plantations, and through tropical rainforests rich with colourful flowers. Upon arriving at Tortuguero, visit the Turtle Museum. Of course, the main attraction here is the park itself. The following day, you’ll take a boat tour through the canals, seeing not just the namesake turtles, but the wide variety of animals, birds, flowers, and other plan species that dot the park. Your lodge has private trails for you to explore at your leisure. A butterfly garden, and botanical gardens are both within easy reach.

San Jose to Tortuguero National Park
Depart early this morning from San Jose. Drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park, where you have the opportunity to see beautiful views and abundant vegetation. On the way, stop for breakfast at El Ceibo in Guapiles. After breakfast, continue to Cano Blanco deck driving by a banana processing and packaging plant to learn more about one of Costa Rica's prime products (subject to availability).
At Cano Blanco, you will board the boat to the lodge, passing the Tortuguero canals arriving at the lodge in the early afternoon. Once there, enjoy refreshing cocktails and a delicious lunch as the staff welcomes you to Pachira Lodge. After lunch, visit the museum, beach area and the picturesque town of Tortuguero. You will return to the lodge around in the evening for dinner.

Tortuguero National Park
Begin today with an early morning journey through the canals to enjoy a real Caribbean sunrise. Return for breakfast. Following breakfast, take a guided walk at one of the trails of the lodge. Return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, there is an optional tour of the canals or you can stay at the lodge to explore the private trails of the lodge, visit the open butterfly garden or enjoy the botanical gardens.
Dinner at the lodge and night at leisure.

Depart Tortuguero National Park
After breakfast, you will depart for Cano Blanco to board your bus transfer back from the canals. Stop en route for lunch at Tropical Restaurant in Guapiles, and then continue on to San Jose or connect with a transfer to your next destination.
